WavesArt has recently implemented a service called "Hire A Sound Developer" that might interest some of You !
In this service you can order any natural acoustic instrument (only) that you urgently need and it's not included in
WavesArt Kronos EXs libraries or in standalone Pa4X/3X libraries.

PCG with the complete structure of sound is supported only for Pa4X/3X and Kronos , but KSC format of PCM
resources can be distributed for any older Korg model.
You can also send us your custom samples of any sampled instrument and do the job for You.
For more info you can read service's details here http://wavesart.eu/Hire

Thanks for reading

Interesting service, Antony. I know you have previously implemented DNC-like articulations using combis. If I provided all the original sounds, what do you estimate would be needed for the request below? For example, what is realistically possible for say $100, or $150, or $200?

I've always wanted to sample my trombone. Along with the conventional playing styles, I'd want to include many types of articulation unique to trombones (sfz, glissando, raspberry tones, pedal tones, plunger mute technique that sounds like Charlie Brown's parents -- wahn wah wawa wahn wah).

I'm thinking of a 3-octave range of "regular" notes, with natural imperfections, round-robin style, with 3-5 variations per note, including up to 12 dynamic levels each of staccato, regular, marcato, and legato notes:

pp p mp1 mp2 mf1 mf2 mf3 f1 f2 ff1 ff2 fff

Then another 3 octave range of the articulations unique to trombone, to be triggered by switches, or perhaps via pedal swells lowering the normal note and bringing in the special articulation. A performance-oriented trombone.

Given that the slide trombone often executes notes that are not perfectly in tune each time, and to avoid the mechanical perfection of super-produced commercial trombone libraries, what approach do you suggest?

Here's an idea of some of the styles:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5IeN4RoZGM starting @ 2:35

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XWw9m1p2VM @ 1:25 and 2:25

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ss2hULhXf04

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLifSFBs_Lk @ 1:30

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UceyzPTb6Q

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHw8P8NnUvI

Looking back over the request, I realize that this may be overambitious. I'd appreciate what practical limitations you would need to impose on these ideas to make a performance trombone that would at least deliver *some* of the unique character demonstrated in the videos. Thanks.

As first , please we can't use forum for questions of paid products or services , I've given you website to contact for your requests
but since it's an "overambitious" example request from a person that is really aware of the "science" , I will briefly say the following :

- The cost of such a job with user samples , is strictly 15 euros per hour as a reward of freelancer developers that I cooparate with.
- Your request is very advanced , such a sound featured with all articulations and complex controllers simply do not exist in any
workstation (and won't) , so I will personaly deal with it since it's a good challenge for me as a VST developer & scripter , you have to
follow my various instructions of how to sample articulations & Fx of your trombone and we both have much work to to for plenty of hours.
- In WavesArt EXs Brass & Vocals Suite there is a similar trombone with the majority of articulation that you need but I believe that
manipulating your own trombone sound in Kronos is an unfulfilled dream for anyone.
- This case is really difficult to estimate the working hours since maybe you will need to repeat sampling section for articulations ,
velocity layers , note artifacts etc , so I can't be accurate in this !
- Note that there are hundreds of samples that must be processed , tuned and precisely looped at "breath point" if we want to catch
up perfection , this is a tremendous workflow and believe me ,even flagship VST companies do not pay the required attention in this !
- The 80% of your requests are feasible in Combination Kronos development and I don't say 100% because of Kronos HD1 features
lacking where I will run out of controllers/AMS so it might needed to split multifunctional trombones in 2,3 Combinations.
- An additional advice is to find another 1-2 mates to share the cost of such a unique project.

I hope that I've explained the potentials here and please use website email for the rest of our conversation ,
since this topic is just a service announcement.
