Posted: Tue Aug 15, 2017 11:42 am Post subject: Many Problems with My Pa4X |
|
|
I have v2.0 and 2.1 installed(2 wks). Suddenly, I see signs of instability, like disappearing lyrics, touch screen freezing, and selected songs on my set list jumping to another song for no reason, like 3rd party software etc.
My dealer asked me if I did a factory reset or reinstalled OS. The answer is not yet because I don't want to lose what I have. I did a complete "save all" and "full resource bkp" to my USB drive. I have not backed up "HD", where I have copied resources from USB.
Any advice will be appreciated. _________________ pa4x

Hi Bernie
Sorry to hear you are having such awful problems
I think that once you are happy that you have your data safely stored externally, then perform a full OS installation.
If the problems persist then I would be thinking that you may have some faulty hardware and it should be analysed by a service engineer under the terms of your warranty.
Let us know how you go.

Hi Bernie,
do you have a "protective sheet" on your display ?
If yes, this may cause the errors ( electrostatic problems ).
If not => Do as Pete suggests _________________ Greetings from East-Frisia, Germany

HI Bernie,
I would start troubleshooting issue by issue.
When you experience a FREEZE, what exactly are you doing at the time? Style Play, Mp3 Play, etc. Isolate if it's a specific style or MP3.
Also, Songs jumping could be an indication that you are moving songs on the USB or Disk and not updating your Songbook/Setlist creating an invalid link. You can fix the links by editing your songbook entries on the keyboard or with the Songbook Editor App on the PC.
Samething with the disappearing lyrics; What exactly are you using and how are you doing it? Please be detailed and specific.
You may not need to restore your O/S. Each of these items may be logically explained if you break them down.
Hope that helps!! _________________ Pa5x, Yamaha Genos, ForeScore |

Thank you kbrkr for advising me to take an incremental approach to my myriad of problems, because, hopefully, I have solved at least most of them. Since I am not a technophile, I had guess some, but noticed the screen was freezing temporarily. That meant it was busy finding a link that wasn't there. I had assigned an older direct set after my upgrade, and it apparently was causing problems. I reassigned a more recent set and have had no more problems.
I hope I am not speaking too soon, but all is well now. THANK YOU _________________ pa4x

I have noticed that the Pa4x is sensitive to some things. I've noticed when I plug in my Ventilator leslie sim and then boot my Pa4x sometimes it will lock up. But it doesn't lock up if I boot first, then hook up my Ventilator. It's kind of strange. I don't know if it's grounding or what. _________________ Pa4x, Oasys 76, K2000, PC3K7, Montage 8, Pa5x |

I tried my vent once with a sub out, but it wasn't right. How do you connect yours? _________________ pa4x

Good News Bernie! Owning these keyboards is like trying to eat an elephant. You need to take small bites!!! LOL
I'm curious in the Ventilator hook up. Does it use MIDI or is it just cabling from the output jacks to the Vent and from the Vent to the speakers?
If it doesn't use MIDI, I can't see why it would lock up the keyboard other than maybe a ground fault or static electricity? I use my volume pedal without an issue. I don't own the Vent so I will defer to the experts on that one.
Regards,

It is a module with controls of a sim built in. There are two ins and one out I route to a sub out on my Audya, sending it through a separate channel. I don't know why it would interfere, but, what do I know?

I don't do anything special. Mine has stereo in and out. I use it inline with the normal outs. I use it on some of the organ sounds that don't move from slow to fast but just jump. It has a midrange sound that really cuts through and makes the organs cry. The leslie in the Pa4x is good on the Drawbars, but jumping from slow to fast just doesn't do it for me on the other organ sounds. And the double leslie sound is very nice.
But I have tried the "booting first then plugging it in" and "plugging it in and then booting" scenarios many times and it is in my case repeatable. I have not experienced the protective screen issue and I use a protective screen. So go figure. I had a problem before with it locking on boot involving the microSD. Once that was figured out, I haven't had a problem there. So I was only agreeing with somebody that tried using a protective screen on the capacitive display that caused their Pa4x to lock on boot. The Pa4x has a sensitivity issue that I don't understand, but am able so far able to work around it. I usually am able to get it to work on a second try on booting. Maybe it's the grounding, I don't know. But it does seem to be sensitive. _________________ Pa4x, Oasys 76, K2000, PC3K7, Montage 8, Pa5x |

1) did you have problems be fore the update,,,
2) now after the up date did all work right no, disappearing lyrics , touch screen work fine , song list work fine,,
with factor restore,
3) did the problems start after you reload your backup files..
,,, your back file might be the problems ,, again maybe ..
like Pete said perform a full os installation . and do not load you back file in for a day or two and use a usb stick with song on it and see how it act,,,then try your back file.. |
