Thanks narf and robbie 50, glad you like it.
That's basically it - as mentioned earlier it took me about 10 hours total to disassemble, do the mod and then reassemble my K2 (older models probably take less time as they don't have the wide PS metal plate). About material used, below is an example similar to what I ordered. This material is normally used for lighting to do photographs. I thought it would fit the purpose. Make sure to choose good quality acetates - this way you make sure they can withstand a little heat safely and won't lose their tint over time. Of course, you will have to cut them to do the mod.

Thanks for putting the pics back. I hope they will stay for a long time. One of the reasons I think this is cool, is not only that you could do multi-colored LEDs (such as you have done), but that you could have all red, or all yellow, or all green, or whatever you wanted. This is truly an ingenious mod - and you don't have to replace LEDs, just cover them with various colored filters. I truly applaud this mod (not that I'm gonna do it) but because it's pretty darn clever. _________________ Stephen Kay - KARMA Developer • Karma-Lab - karma-lab.com

Thanks for posting this. It's cool stuff like this that make this board so valuable. I have been proven wrong that this was a PHOTOSHOP!!!!
I gleefully eat my words. _________________ Pa5x, Yamaha Genos, ForeScore

Thanks Stephen ! Yes indeed, anyone can choose whichever colors they prefer and it can be done simply for aesthetics.
In my case, the goal was to reduce the strength of the white LEDs as I thought they were sometimes too strong depending on lighting and also the colors I chose help me see/decode what is going on or what I'm doing with the various functions and control modes, etc. Everything is entirely reversible too, in case you change your mind. |
