So I went and did it.. bought another tribe.
An EMX-1SD.

Missed the old one when I sold it and since bought a Digitakt.
Digitakt is the best sampler/Groovebox I've owned by a long shot, but it's missing synths. So I figured what's the best bang for buck Midi controlled synth, and settled on the EMX.

Will be controlling it from Digitakt Midi tracks, plus each Midi track has 8 assignable cc knobs that can be parameter locked.

Will post some videos once it arrives. Smile

Interesting!

I sold my E2S, then missed it a lot, thought about the Digitakt hard and then looked at the E2S with it’s polyphony, VA synths and portability/batteries and bought another one (red this time).

I guess for all the grief they get, they do actually fit a niche.

I still would still really like a Digitakt but between Circuit, MPC1000, E2S, RM1X and SP404sx, I can’t really find a use case for it!!

Maybe as a ‘standalone’ messing around box for the couch?? Dunno...

I've done a similar thing, I've owned a circuit, MPC500, MPC2000, MPC2500, ASR-X, Electribe2, EMX, and sold them on.

The Digitakt I don't ever want to sell. It's hard to describe because if you look at the specs it seems very limited, but sitting down in front of it, it is immediate and powerful! It also sounds fantastic.

I always loved the synths on the EMX-1 but the drums I didn't like and the step sequencing isn't my thing. But with the Digitakt I get flexible timing and parameter locks and tig conditions for the EMX, and I can still motionrecord the FX and Synth parameters in the EMX patterns, so best of both worlds.

Here's a good example of the power of Trig conditions:

And here's parameter locks:

Well worth watching to understand the power lurking in this little box Twisted Evil

Btw I also have a SP404SX, great little box. Totally different again to Digitakt and Electribe. Awesome for long sample playback and FX

The Monologue having proper p-locks makes me wonder why Korg just didn't institue this in the new Electribes--that might have helped with some of tha annonying limitations (bugs as some call them) in the new ones.

I'm on my second E2S as well. Having owned an E2, an ER-1 MKII twice, an ES-1 and an ESX (smart media).

I have a feeling I'll be buying one as a late b-day present to myself. Either that or a Strymon El Capistan (again). I really haven't heard anything in software that sounds *that* good as a tape delay.

BUT...I seriously digress here!

Thanks Buska, you've just made the Digitakt, at least for this poster, a lot more tempting... Cool
