It's a new Tyros, it was really strange for me on the first look of this keyboard, but title is new ws. Of course Tyros is more arranger than ws.

Y is blurring the distinction. They are calling it a W/s
Everything I heard sounds of top notch quality. every sound seems highly polished.
The important word for me is ' create'. I create original songs. My original songs have little flaws. My mixes are a little rough. I also do or re-arrange covers. Same thing, they are not perfect. OMG, a small mistake in the 32nd measure. LOL. Blasphemy.
I much prefer to create on my own terms. Sure, I will use a drum track if I have to.. But not a canned track with 3 or 4 instruments. I would rather rough it by creating my own backing tracks . And it will take a month, and that still works for me. I am willing to spend the time. Plus I am learning constantly.
I think Genos is very attractive. If I had 400 gigs per year playing covers, or whatever pop stuff, instrumental backing for a vocalist, for the audience, I can see Genos being a strong fit. Its also instant gratification for the home musician. Not 1 problem there. Its obviously going to provide lots of fun.
we have had somewhat similar discussions. Its up to the keyboard musician what tools he chooses. I am glad to see this keyboard. It doesn't have to be a good fit for my musical dreams. I am impressed by what it does, so far. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Not seeing enough specs anywhere. Nothing about an onboard sequencer.
Seems it has XLR input for mic, saw something mentioning Wifi, cost much more than kronos- priced like a top quality arranger, and it only comes in 76 key.
Maybe it is too early for some of this info i gathered, to be better than rumors?
I like it but not without a sequencer. |

Good points here, I have seen lots of Tyros in use by bands that sit in the restaurant/Bar and basically play nearly everyday of the year. It is a jobbing keyboard for when there are 2 or 3 of you.
The Genos is the next keyboard to buy for these guys, and it sounds pretty good for this sort of thing to me. |

@GregC: you say instant gratification for the home musician - at 4667 euro's a pop (for the 76 key version here in Belgium) that'd have to be a really gung ho homemusician. Or a really rich one
I watched the video - sounds seem OK to me but as far as I understand there is very limited sound editing/creation capability (apart from FXs). _________________ Kronos X-88, Nanopad2, Tascam US122 MKii, Roli Rise 49 |

I have been wondering if Yamaha ended the Motif Range and brought out the Montage as a PERFORMANCE synth precisely to blur the distinction between a workstation and an arranger along the Tyros axis?
So far I have been quite pleased with my Montage. It complements the Kronos quite nicely and I did not need another workstation. _________________ Derek Cook - Java Developer

neh...it doesnt "do it" for me either...to polished. Im going analog. found a synth from a small manufacturer in Berlin: MFB Dominion 1. it would compliment my matrixbrute well
BUT i think this would be a "want to have" for many ppl _________________ https://soundcloud.com/bob-frode |

I am not in that 1st category I also think the pricing is silly high. Same with Montage.
But there are folks in the US who will throw down the plastic for the Genos. I bet some orders have been placed already. There might be a slight surge of used Yamaha arrangers for sale soon _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

these kind of demo videos are absolutely unbearable and especially laughable! They have existed for so many and many years already.
And soon there will be this guy we know all : the one who play at the speed of light a new demo for this kind of arranger synth. Stoooooop ! Please all of you demo guys : play just this one note I am waiting for... .. . _________________ trees are going fast.

It tries to be something of everything, but doesn't look really convincing for any of the very different targeted kinds of musical purposes, at nearly 7000 bucks.
And it's rather an arranger than a workstation and not remotely suited as alternative for Kronos workstation users. Mixing up different concepts in a mindless way, and at a very high price, will be just as unsuccessful as with the Montage.
This is discussed in the news section, where it rather belongs than here:
