Korg have been a bit slack here in the docs
The update instructions say:-
Loading the Operating System may also update the Musical
Resources (Sounds, Styles…). This type of data is not
actually updated until you execute a Factory Restore. The
need for a Factory Restore is indicated in the documents
accompanying the Operating System.

Trouble is that that is NOT indicated in the documents.
V2 required that the factory restore was executed - I don't think it is necessary for V2.0.1 but it wouldn't hurt to do it.
Personally, I would do it.

Yes it will delete all resources , in your case you do not need a factory restore ! Just update OS !

I just took delivery of a brand new PA4X-76 and I have been trying to update to version 2.

I have copied the UPD file onto the memory stick on my Mac. I had several small UDP packages and unarchiver merged them together into one.

I can see the file OK but the update button is greyed out and have only the factory reset available.

what do I do wrong here??? I will try a different memory stick tomorrow and unpack via a PC as well but I am not sure if this would be the issue.

Did someone else have had a similar experience?

thanks

You may need the PKG files and not UDP
Follow the instructions EXACTLY AS WRITTEN - YOU SHOULD NOT NEED TO UNPACK ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE MAIN ZIP FILES

If you downloaded the five parts, then you should end up with this on your USB:-
Pa4X_OS_and_Resources_v200.pkg.001
Pa4X_OS_and_Resources_v200.pkg.002
Pa4X_OS_and_Resources_v200.pkg.003
Pa4X_OS_and_Resources_v200.pkg.004
Pa4X_OS_and_Resources_v200.pkg.005
OR
Pa4X_OS_and_Resources_v200.udp.001
Pa4X_OS_and_Resources_v200.udp.002
Pa4X_OS_and_Resources_v200.udp.003
Pa4X_OS_and_Resources_v200.udp.004
Pa4X_OS_and_Resources_v200.udp.005

It doesn't matter if you put all these on your USB (pkg and udp) your PA4X will only recognise the ones it needs.
DO NOT merge any files

If you just downloaded the lot in one hit you will only have a single udp or pkg file

Cheers

Hi,

just read the update-manual complete again.

When updating from 1.x to 2.0 you have to use the factory reset ! NOT the "Update" ( that´s to be used when updating from 2.0 to 2.0.1 Wink

All working gents, it was the Mac extracting tool that fiddled with the files. I am glad it updated. The KAOSS feature is amazing.

Gosh so much to learn on the PA4X especially after using the i3 last almost 20 years go.
