Set List Problem

I made a new list, named it, enabled edit, and proceeded to put a midi that plays fine, in the songbook. The song is entered fine, but the ADD SONG is not lit up, so can't add it to the set list. Why?

My songs have been going into DIRECT, but I tried INTERNAL and I could add it.

Double check there is a "tick" next to "Enable setlist edit" in the drop down menu - I cannot think of another reason why this wouldn't work.

A new song will go into INTERNAL by default so have you been selecting DIRECT?
If you load a SONG from DIRECT and change it it will go back into DIRECT

Q: are there any songs at all in your INTERNAL songbook?

I have never fully understood the architecture to even know how to look. When I upgraded, I had to pick the direct link and I stayed there. To be honest, I am a little afraid of messing things up. On the other hand, to have songs in internal and direct can't be good.

I found the problem. When I made a new list, I didn't see the choice of Internal or Direct designation, so the new list defaulted to Internal and would not accept Direct.
