These are good ideas, but I'm sure you'll agree with me that this won't make it a "next generation" keyboard. They're improvements on the same architecture.
In my case, it wouldn't make me change my Kronos. |

Agreed Dniss. I really don't understand this needless thirst for a Kronos sucesor that a group of people have. Kronos still has so much potential.... |

There are good reasons to inquire. Some folks are considering buying/spending $3000 +.
Before they commit, they know advancing tech leaves older products devalued quickly.
Other long time owners , like myself, see some limits. we have stated these several times. Our past experience is that w/s have a certain shelf life.
Its important to plan, IMO. There are alternatives for our $$$ _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Like Greg said.
I guess perspectives are different whether you're looking into getting a new workstation, by opposition to already own one. |

thats interesting. what is a ' Korg UK expert ' ? Someone who plays Korg keyboards for a long time in your country ? |
This was an employee of Korg UK present at Music's Live in Birmingham, UK. Sadly I didn't make a note of his name. I hope this is suitable clarification. _________________ W : www.theusualsuspectsuk.com

There will be a new product
The name is 8 letters long
And starts with a P
Most people assume that this rumor is aboput a polyphonic analogue synth
But what reason is there to upgrade the Kronos..
It still has no competitiuon in the high end workstation market
And the only thing i could think off that really could use some improvement, is the addition of limitless encoders and drumpads, so i can get rid of the nanopad.. and add a modern slightly bigger touchscreen to that
And offcourse there is a huge plethora of wishes.. like the interface(screen part) is really getting dated, and the still missing piano roll editor.. but those things could be added as software patches to the Kronos
I dont see any reason for Korg to upgrade the Kronos, a new Montage is atleast 2 years away.. and Roland and Kurzweil have left the high end workstation market. |
The "rumor" I have heard is:
Korg will introduce the Kronos replacement - called Poseidon - with additional configurable VA synth, building block modules you can build instruments with a la the Origin and Nord Modular...

Or perhaps Zeus, if it comes with a "in the cloud" option...

My take is Korg will go for ten year production run with the Kronos. We're coming up on seven years. I just replaced my original with a Kronos 2. The design of the Kronos has allowed for a long string of OS upgrades that would have required new/updated hardware on other synths, so it has been consistently upgraded (for free) over its lifespan.
The MicroKorg has been in production for over 15 years.

I think rumors, and little clues , and speculation can get mixed up.
I do not believe the little hint from Korg was related to a new Kronos, or a Kronos replacement. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Right, the big name rumor out of the Korg podcast is a product coming out of the analog synth group.

So I am thinking should I buy now or wait for next Kronos |
If you had an immediate requirement such as a band gig, pro studio project, I could see adding Kronos quickly.
Other than that, I recommend waiting until January, to be 100% certain.
Buying a keyboard is often an emotional decision, so I state things from a more practical bias.
If Korg truly has another WS in the wings, we would see prices coming down at retail this month. Korg will signal their retailers ( at least here in the US) to begin a product transition.
This tactic isn't crystal clear, or universal , of course. GC's are routinely do inventory clearance a a marketing tactic so the 'clearance ' move gets misinterpreted as far as original intent.
You shouldn't be that concerned about Kronos build quality. If you are rough on your gear and heavy handed on keyboard controls, you might experience breakage. To keep weight/cost down , and to manage a variety of controls these keyboard cos tend to have lighter and smaller components. |
Thanks here in the UK Kronos prices are holding while Montage is on discount so if they were planing to change maybe they would put prices down I don’t know ok new Kronos would have what better screen ? gadget app included ?to me none of them would help me to do better music.
As I said I already have Montage so what is there better than Kronos/Montage combination. |

How much of a "discount" is on the Montage in the UK? |
