The old 128 is getting a bit tired. Can the pa4x Pro be increased to 256 without major internal upgrades? _________________ Making music is a passion, not a choice of lifestyle |

I doubt it.
Do you actually run out of polyphony?
Not happened to me (yet)
Cheers

It’s rare to run out of polyphony but if you do it will usually be because you are layering piano (which can use 4 or more per note played) with a complex pad or strings (using another 2 or 3). One way around this problem is to simplify the piano by removing say resonance and pedal effects which cannot be heard in most mixes anyway. So make your own piano by copying across only the oscillators you need. Just a suggestion. Another would be to use some mono instruments instead of stereo. _________________ Free SoundFonts: https://sites.google.com/site/soundfonts4u/

+1. This is an arranger with many parts playing at once, it should at least be 256. If Casio can do it with the PX-5S (a piano keyboard) for $1000 (and I have seen it in the US for $800), why not the Pa4x. _________________ Pa4x, Oasys 76, K2000, PC3K7, Montage 8, Pa5x |

My understanding is that even the latest Genos does not have 256 polyphony !
I have only maxed out my Pa4x once and as has been suggested already some pre planning with voices can alleviate this, again it is more noticeable with voices like Pianos, Pads and Strings. With Midi Tracks which I use a lot this is never a issue _________________ Yamaha S90ES, Korg Triton Pro, EXB Moss, Roland XV5080, Korg EX8000, Korg Pa4x 76, Korg Kronos 88, Crumar MOJO, Logic Pro X, V Collection, Novation SL61,Vienna, Korg Pa4x , EC-5, Vienna, Arturia V Collection, Roland SC88 Pro, Roland D110, Alesis SR16, Alesis D4 |
