just watch a Video on the Yamaha Genos ..even though it seems amazing the price , no speakers , no mic input are a few of my dislike ..but i really dont care for yamaha ..I always been a KORG user .my question is what is up KORGs sleeve to compete with this & hopefully at a better price ... i use a pa3x now , in awhile i will be retiring from performing out , moving equipment is too much , I am planning on purchasing the latest greatest keyboard arranger to last until the end ..... so i am starting to feel things out now ... |

Hi Al
Depending on what you want from an arranger I think you have these choices (that sit at the top IMHO):-
Korg PA4X
Ketron Audya
Yamaha Genos (can be purchased with speakers (like the Tyros) and does have mic input)
One of the higher end Yamaha PSR models
Casio MZ-X500 (don't knock it - it is quite amazing) For what it's worth, the keyboard you have now is incredible - why change?
Check out as many as you can.
All the best

I love my keyboard , & won't be changing anytime soon ..but i do feel with it discontinued , not doing updates & not creating new styles , in awhile i will be limited ...i am always looking for new styles to add ..i just dont have the time or talent to program my own ...so i just figured when my playing days are over than i will upgrade & it will probably be my last keyboard,,,,thank you very much for your answer ... |

Actually the Audya is of the past..
Has been replaced with the new SD series
SD7, SD40(module) and now the SD9 pro.
The SD9 pro is the most advanced arranger where it comes to arranger capabilities.. with the launchpad feature even more advanced then the Genos and PA4x _________________ Korg Kronos 2/88 , Genos, Mainstage3 +VSTsu, ipad pro, GSi Gemini, Roland Integra 7, Jupiter Xm, Yamaha motif XS rack, Ketron SD90.

May be... but it has the looks of an arranger keyboard from the 90s, and IMHO one of the most ugliest designs I have ever seen. _________________ Musical grtz, Frans

I have to agree.....
One might argue and say that it's all about the sound/control surface etc..etc.. but it's not IMHO.
Band gear needs to look good - it's all part of the image.... I have never been overly keen on the Tyros "look" but Genos looks a lot better...
"Don't judge a book by its cover" they say - whoops, I just did

A 9"touchscreen... and looking like the 90's?
I think its a minimalistic design..
But pure metal buildquallity.
No useless flash
Buttons might be a little slow tough.
Lots of touchscreen use required tough.
But then with a good interface, i see no problems in that.
Look like the 90's?
I don't see it.
I kind of like the minimalistic look
(Sadly, not the feel, nothing beats a pa4x when it comes to the design and button placement)
Even the older Ketron Audya, can still hold up to the Genos where style quallity is concerend.

Personally I like the sound of Genos more, it sounds more authentic, it seems like a real band _________________ Hans

Agree - Audya was on my shopping list in its day (still wouldn't mind having one). Shame it had so many problems for so long.
I still think its drums are better than anything today and definitely agree that its styles' quality is way ahead.
I would consider the SD9 if we had more than one shop (also the distributor!!) for the whole country - have no idea how one would go getting repairs/warranty issues sorted out - so it's a no hope for me.
Cheers

As soon as the SD9 becomes available in module form, i will grasp it and combine it with the Nord stage 3 and my new NI Maschine Mk3 as a 2nd setup. _________________ Korg Kronos 2/88 , Genos, Mainstage3 +VSTsu, ipad pro, GSi Gemini, Roland Integra 7, Jupiter Xm, Yamaha motif XS rack, Ketron SD90.

Well Tested sd9 and genos side by side, NO WAY That Genos is even close to the guitar rifts on sd9.
The styles are amazing, Sounding like VST,s!
its al about the style and sound programmers I think,
The design is not from 2017, Its like 2005.
but sound Q is. OMG!
I still love the Pricing, YAMAHA is for KENO players _________________ www.globalsound.se

Whats best about the SD9 is the style moddeling
Its somehow much more intuitive then the same feature on the pa4x and the genos. I guess what makes the difference is the fact that all style tracks are listed with their trackname, and not as styleXtrack5 or 6
and the launchpad feature is the cherry on the crown... _________________ Korg Kronos 2/88 , Genos, Mainstage3 +VSTsu, ipad pro, GSi Gemini, Roland Integra 7, Jupiter Xm, Yamaha motif XS rack, Ketron SD90.
