Hello Friends,

I want to upgrade the RAM and SSD in the Kronos 1 model. I am sure many of you must have done this before. What is the max RAM/SSD I can put in?

Also, can I use an external SSD?

I believe the max that the OS supports is 3 GB RAM, since it's a 32 bit system. The Kronos 2 ships with 3 GB installed. As for SSD, I don't think there is really a hard limit to the drive size you can install. USB storage should work as long it's plug and play. I bought a 128 GB USB stick to use with my K2. Just make sure you're running the latest Kronos OS (3.1.2).

Kronos 2 ships with 4 GB installed. You can double your K1 to 4 but only just over 3 will be accessible due to the 32 bit OS.

I figured the K2 just shipped with 3 GB, since that's how much it says on mine in the Global menu, but makes sense if that's just the software not able to see the last GB. Didn't think of that.

From Korg's specifications, I read that the K2 ships with 4GB RAM, and after the factory-default PRELOAD.KSC is loaded, 768MB remains, available for user RAM. 32-bit systems can only address 4GB chunks of RAM (4,096 bytes, or 2 to the twelfth-power), so that's the limitation. Though, some systems are able to circumvent this limitation (e.g., 32-bit video systems used in broadcast TV employ metadata and software to bridge the 4GB file-size limit so that playback of clips larger than 4GB is transparent to the user).

Thanks friends. I was reading about this as well. Seems like the 32 bit OS and the other software limitations of Kronos makes it read as 3.25GB irrelevant of how much RAM we install in there.

Here is everythings you need to know about SSDs.
I've upgraded my Kronos 88 LS with 2 Samsung 850 EVO (one 500Gb as system disk and one 1Tb as secondary disk!)
