We will never (and have never) have any official information from Korg on these forums.
As I understand it the company "structure" is different now and Korg Italy do not have the same control as they did before - one reason why the dedicated website was removed a while ago.
Paolo is the best and helps here but I believe is no longer in a position to make promises or predictions.
We just have to wait now.....
Cheers

We'll just have to wait and see.
My guess: if we're lucky, we will have maybe one major update in the course of this year.
(Next year PA5X).
Just guessing,... _________________ Musical grtz, Frans

I wouldn't hold your breath - Korg seem to be following the Yamaha model these days, as in, anything major in OS inprovement is held over to the next hardware version, hoping to get people to pay yet more money.
For example, the ability to save a CS in a Songbook entry could have EASILY been a small software OS upgrade for the PA3x, but Korg ONLY added it to the PA4x!!
SO yeah, anything other than bug fixes I doubt you'll see for the PA4. |

As soon as a new successor has been introduced, the "old" model is no longer supported with new OS releases.
It's commerce, ultimately. I hope for one more major release this year. _________________ Musical grtz, Frans

well i,m working in a music store, and korg is dusty this days, GENOS is the only intresting KB in the shop, so i realy hope KORG can make OS update with some new styles from 2018 s music genre.
And IF the 2 GB is not only a dream, than KORG will be on the top list, if not , i give KORG maximum 6 more month for been in the shop.
the sound and style quality of GENOS and KETRON is far beyond the KORG.
so something must happen, and not just a new KB from korg, They must fix RAM , and OS problems. _________________ www.globalsound.se

In my Opinion, Korg's soundset will never change dramatically for these keyboards.I believe they will try to use more insert FX before they decide it's time for fresh soundsets .
I would be happy if they give a final Os for now _________________

Yamaha got away with that for many years.... lots of DSP
I think I've run out of needs regarding sounds - can really and mostly get anything I want from the current PA4X.
As for styles, I still personally find the Korg styles to be the best. I do not believe that Yamaha have the advanced style structure like Korg (I may be wrong though!!)

VERY WRONG PETE
If you think KORG,s style elements is near by GENOS, Than i cant say anything.
First of all, Drum Kits are far far better, I mean they use better sounds for Kick Snare Rides and more.
If you listen deep and you will undarstand it better.
BUT,,,, The last styles from Korg is much more complex STYLE Pac 29 forex, Is much much better programmed and they have used new Kicks and Snares, New Basses and tweaked them Pro Clan, So in that way it,s realy nice move from Korg.
If you listen to some of the ROM DK,s is from old times, Like I series And PA 80 series.
There is new DK,s YES but not god ones anyway, Thats the biggest Loose of quality.
As a Producer I,m Using sounds from Kashmir.
And yes It,s Better.
If you have time , and can listen to Ketron,s DK,s It sounds LIVE, Chrispy, and fresh.
And if some one that is great on Style programming than any KB can sound much more realistic.
Take care My Friend, And KF. _________________ www.globalsound.se

hmmmmm.... I DO like Ketron but the cost is prohibitive and no support in my country - in fact, if there was support, I would seriously consider one (SD9/Audya etc...)

I do like my FantomX7' drum kits, they sound nice and professional in live gigs too,but i really believe that Korg should do a further step,a HUGE if she wants to be the leader of All companies.
Midi protocols are the same GS/GM/GX etc... maybe it's time to move on and use a universal protocol designed from scratch.
It would be great if you could use for each style a drumkit that would be custom made but also handy for use. That you could change and choose between kicks and snares on the fly without messing up the whole set ,without the need of saving it on a Dk user program, and much more easier to chose the right element for every key by categories, not like spinning the wheel to find the right sample....I mean....it''s 2018 ,right? _________________

Probably I am WRONG in your eyes/ears but "each to his own" as they say - sorry but I have been most disappointed in Tyros styles since the beginning - can't say that they have improved much (for me)
Yamaha create these amazing INTROs and ENDINGs but the rest is often way too bland.
I love the CV structure of the Korg - not sure if Yamaha Genos has similar.
Agree - Yamaha drums have been very nice for a long time but I am now rapt that the PA4X has come up to scratch.
I know you are very experienced with sampling and editing etc but I just want my $5900 keyboard to sound amazing without all that - and it (PA4X) does!
I am incredibly disappointed that Yamaha did not do much to the Genos, which, if you compare manuals, is really a modified Tyros 5.
It has the same show-stopper limitations for me - cannot even consider it until Yamaha wakes up a bit - they did slightly wake up and improve the control surface at last - a TOUCH SCREEN - now there's an innovation
Sorry but could never live with their new "Tyros 6" but it would make a nice second keyboard for some home fun if someone bought it for me.
Take it easy,
