|
|
Help! I was upgrading my software to the latest version last night, I think it is version 3.1.2, and it began the upgrade successfully. It gave a message that it was verifying the installation files. This went on for several hours and then I went to bed, thinking it was very time consuming.
When I got up this morning and looked at the keyboard, the message was still there that it was STILL verifying the installation files. Surely it doesn't take this long to update. Any advice??? |

All this, which happened to you, during verification, it's not normal. Verification of installation files is very short process, next step is installation, which is very short too. All this has to be end for few minutes. Obviously you have a problem with some of installation file (during verification). Problem can exist because of the file corruption or your usb stick. My advice is that you download installation again, before installation format your usb stick using Kronos format. _________________ Pedja

So I will just turn off the Kronos and then start it up again. Hopefully, it will be able to re-boot with the old operating system. |

Well, I'm screwed.
I turned off the keyboard and then turned it back on.
I got the following error message on boot-up:
"System cannot start due to file system error. Please reinstall the system software."
I do not have the original system software. What can I do to get it up and running again? |

Hi there,
Sorry to read about your problem. Found this link for you, which tells you are not the only one :
http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=74089&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
If it would be my problem, I would contact Korg directly. According to the link above, they can send you original discs for your particular Kronos model. I would feel more confident with original discs than with a download which could become corrupted during transfer.
You could also PM Sharp here, he is the admin of this site and might provide you a temporary link for download or more info on what to do. |

I can't figure out how to get in contact with Korg Support. There is no phone number on their website. Nobody on here can provide a link to the original software??? |

I had to use this link a couple years ago for help. I didn't speak to anyone via phone, but they did reply to my EM. It may take a couple days. Good luck. http://www.korg.com/us/support/

kronos OS workflow while updating system files is the following :
- As first system verifies the integrity of files to be installed via parity checker, this will eliminate any case
of corrupted files or corrupted media sectors of USB thumb drive !
- Then everything is ready to update and loading updating files will begin writting data in boot SSD / system
partition overwitting existing files.
- The last step before restarting is the verification of installed files comparing written files parity with original in
USB thumb drive.
If this procedure can not finish succesfully or freeze there , this means that written data in system SSD are
corrupted due to SSD failure and this usually happens if you try to update without a UPS connected under
electricity net fluctuance , which is critical only in this proccedure and nobody seem to give the proper attention !!!
- In this case you have to reinstall OS from Kronos DVDs since OS is damaged !

Well I just ordered a set of the Korg DVD's from Parts is Parts (referred to on the Korg website for parts).
When they arrive, am I supposed to somehow copy them from the DVD's onto a USB drive? I have heard some say that the USB drive should be formatted on a Kronos, others have said you can format the USB drive as FAT32 on a Windows computer.
Just trying to get some instructions before the DVD's arrive so I can be prepared. |

Actually you need a USB DVD drive connected directly to the Kronos.

As Geo wrote , first you need a DVD drive compatible to Kronos that can read dual layer DVDs as this is the official
Korg distribution format of DVD ISOs , I can't help in compatible types since I use virtual USB bootable installation
of Kronos resources I had made before 2 years , in my service support for similar customers issues. _________________ Music Conductor - Sound Engineer & Developer - Automotive SMPS/RF R&D - Electronics Engineer

Will a DVD drive with USB 3.0 connector work? Or does it have to be 2.0 because my Kronos is 7 years old? |
