Hello! I LOVE my microKORG and have been using it for years. I was hoping you could provide a recommendation on the best way to make the microKORG a MIDI controller to control different devices in my studio. How do you connect your microKORG to a computer since this synth does not have a USB connection? Should I progress with purchasing to the microKORG XL+ which has a USB connection? Or do you recommend using a MIDI/USB converter/adapter to connect the microKORG to a computer? Or do you recommend connecting the microKORG MIDI to an audio interface that has MIDI i/o? I just love the compact size of the microKORG, the mini keys, and the awesome sounds. Just looking for a way to make it more versatile for my studio by making it the main controller in my set up and avoid any latency issues.
THANK YOU!

Hi,

Buy a decent USB-MIDI (DIN) cable. It's not that expensive.

You say you want to control other devices in the studio at low latency. Mmh, I would then try to connect them together straight away using MIDI DIN cables and avoid going through your computer. Using a computer in between will add latency. Getting the MIDI data in the computer is one thing, but you need to get it out again as well to your other devices...

It all depends a bit on your intended work flow.
Anyway the USB-MIDI cable is worth buying it as a first step.

Have fun.
