This seems such a basic feature but I can't find how to do it!! Can only get velocity to modulate amplitude, but not filter brightness.
Help appreciated!

You can modulate the EG by velocity (Edit - Button 5), which you can assign to the filter. It’s more useful this way than to modulate the filter itself. |

Why not through the amp,
like on my Korg r3 it would be easy, but for you I think it would look like:
Assign/Toggle (Patch Mod~Velocity~(Destination)~Amp) waveshape postition from Preamp/PreFilter1
