Hi,
I just got a Kronos LS to replace my old trusted Roland FantomG. I wonder if Kronos has a function like the RPS (realtime phrase sequencer) on the FantomG.
Basically this allows you to record a sequence which can be looped and assigned to a pad or a key, which came in handy when I lacked a third hand
Can this be done similarly on Kronos or should I make a sample of the sequence as a workaround ?

sounds like RPPR.
Your manual has the detail and there are a few youTubes on it _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Pattern RPPR can do it but that uses up the bottom two octaves to make silence. Those keys get disabled and set to all-stop RPPR run. Unless!!! You convert it to a drum track pattern and use it in drum track and then insert your program into the timbre set for drum track input. RPPR works for drum track and that way you can take a pattern out of RPPR and use it wherever drum track can be found, used in drum track without the loss of function of any bottom keys.
An isolated program in a timbre or Track with step sequencer used as pitch AMS. That can do crude phrases. And i think also can be set to loop. Maybe even nano pad set to midi note numbers to control the keys.
“Sample” option that you mentined is the most flexible option i know of. You get the audio recorded without the midi limitations of RPPR and without the phrase quality limits step sequencer has. Make it a program and key zone it into a combi. You can then use Nano pad to trigger and even have Karma, drum track and step sequencer come into play if any of their capabilities apply to how you want to bring in the Sample. |
