Many years (since 2014) I used my Kurzweil PC3LE8 like a controller to Kronos X73 (because much more better keyboard of PC3LE8, Fatar 40/L) via USB. Last year I started to suffer from Kurzweil OS restarting, from time to time. I tried many things, but I couldn't force scenario which can caused to produce OS restarting. I highlight that OS restarting happened, from time to time, sometimes months passed.
One very good musician (from Kurzweil forum), and a great connoisseur of Kurzweil hardware, suggested to me, to plug out all cables (L&R line out, phones, pedals and USB cables) and play Kurzweil for 30'. I didn't do exactly what he suggested to me, I plug out only USB cable (which is MIDI connection for Kurzweil and Kronos).
After that, I played Kurzweil for a few days, without USB connection, and I didn't suffered on Kurzweil from OS restarting.
Please, can someone help to me with idea, what can be a problem in this USB connection, and what I can try to solve this, maybe to connect instruments with MIDI cable? Thank you for your attention.

What sort of things have been tried already?

Troubleshooting this kind of issue is not easy. There are multiple possible causes for a system reboot. How are the PC3LE8 and Kronos connected via USB? Is the port used at the kronos end the USB-A (rectangular) port and on the Kurzweil the USB-B (square) port, bearing in mind that the Kronos' USB-B (square) port can be used for passing MIDI when connected to a computer.

Some possibilities that spring to mind are:

-- Faulty USB cable - causing a short across the 5V USB supply (Kurzweil specify using the supplied cable and not using extension cables), or poor data transfer leading to the Kurzweil OS getting into a tizz.

-- Faulty Kurzweil PCB, such that flexing the board, caused by tension in the USB cable, causes a system reset.

-- Radio frequency interference, from a nearby mobile phone, or transmitter, being picked up by the USB cable, and causing a reset.

-- Some sort of ground loop issue, where the USB cable carries sufficient ground loop current to cause a problem, currents being induced when e.g. fridge, freezer, aircon, washing machine, shower pump etc turn on or off - ideally the Kurzweil and Kronos should be connected to adjoining supply sockets, or use the same extension board, and the mains cables and USB cable should not form a large open loop - ideally the mains cables to the two keyboards should run together for as long as possible, and similarly to other parts of the system e.g. audio mixer and/or amplfier.

Using dedicated MIDI cable(s) may help, but ground loop currents could also be carried by these.

Have you applied any OS updates ?

The latest versions are:
Kurzweil PC3LE -> Version 2.27
Kronos -> Version 3.1.1

Perhaps updating your keyboards might solved your problem, or reseting to defaults/reinstalling.

Thank you very much to voip for deep analyses (troubleshooting) of possible isses.

1. Kurzweil and Kronos are connected exactly like you explain (USB-B port on Kurzweil with USB-A on Kronos).
2. I changed USB cable with new one.
3. I exclude this because I didn't have any problems for 7. years, instrument was all time in same place (without any moving).
4. Mobile phone it wasn't near instrument or any other transmitter device (I only mixer).
5.Kronos and Kurzweil use same extension board, USB cable has normal length (I got them with instrument). Fridge, freezer, aircon, washing machine are in other part of apartment.

I want to thank you to Poseidon too, I have on Kurzweil OS v.2.26 (in 2.27 they only change name of some instrument, nothing more), on Kronos I have OS v.3.1.3.
Excuse me for my little late reply, I was offline few days.
I wish you all best.
