I'm on the cusp of buying a PA700 but first want to find out whether the sequencer is capable of having several tracks assigned to control external midi equipment.

I'm not keen on using a software based sequencer and would prefer to use the capability of the Korg PA700 sequencer, but have the need to provide audio from a Roland D-05 sound module and later possibly a VST such as the Arturia AnalogLab running on a Mac.

Spend my whole day looking at a computer so would prefer to keep my music life as much away from one as possible. Does anyone know if the PA700 allows midi tracks to be assigned and used in its sequencer?

Welcome.

I cannot answer much but you can see the official Korg Video Manuals on Youtube.

The manual if freely available to download.

The 700 can import MIDI files and convert them to a style.

Pa-Keyboards (also Pa-700) allows midi tracks to be assigned and used in its sequencer.

In menue "Global > MIDI > MIDI OUT Channels page" you can programn the MIDI OUT Channels. In this Channel pop-up menu you can assign instrument’s track to each MIDI channel. Instruments track are Lower / Upper Keyboard-Sounds, Pad, Drum-/Percussion-/Bass-/Acc1-5, Chords, Controls etc and at least the Sequencer/Player’s tracks (Ply Tr 01...16) .

If instruments part/tracks are assigned to External Sounds and Program Change messages (for sound modules like Roland D-05 or VST) internal sounds are not played, but sent to MIDI Out. Instead of the assigned Sound name an indicator (MSB / LSB / PrgChg) is shown on a track’s area in the Main page of Pa700.
