Do KARMA sliders respond to the control surface without a MIDI clock source?

-Make sure the Kronos ISN'T connected to a computer or otherwise getting a MIDI clock through USB.
-Set the Kronos' internal MIDI clock source to External USB.
-Go to any program or combi and open the KARMA GE tab.
-Make sure you're on 'RT KNOBS/KARMA' and move a slider to see if the RTC window reflects the same movement.

Hi! I'm happy you're going to help me out with this, Scarecrow.

Go to the Global setup by clicking the GLOBAL button.
Go to the MIDI tab
The upper left window is labelled MIDI Setup
In that window you'll see MIDI Clock with a few options.
Click External USB.

in following your instructions, the sliders in karma ge do not move the on screen animated sliders.

Now if only I understood why... Is there some kind of time quantization element in the movement of a slider? I don't need a clock source to change a parameter directly in a GE... so why would the slider movement be [time] quantized? Maybe disabling the sliders while there isn't a clock source is partially how the KARMA software disables the keyboard's internal KARMA engine...

It's a really interesting find. Stephen Kay might be able to comment on the matter.

As a novice, I would think the karma needs a time signature to measure note changes so they regroup into the correct bpm of the pattern change.

Realtime changes to GE patterns is most likely going to be done by Sliders while performing.
And like Scarecrow said, the changes need to keep up with the clock behind the pattern to keep from missing a beat, especially when there are likely to be LFO, step sequencer, drum track and sequencer tracks playing along to the time of the same clock.

I imagine having the sliders able to work outside of internal midi clock control, it would make possible inadvertent derailing of the groove where all has to stop for midi clock to be set up.
Easier to not be able to derail the enitire groove with the draw back of sliders disconnected when midi clock is. At least no way to derail a realtime groove because midi clock settings were confused or mismanaged.
Karma is all about realtime performance.

Just my guess and i do not know enough to rule out deeper workings in the midi system that could make such an issue where sliders work only under internal midi clock enabled.
