Posted: Tue Jun 26, 2018 6:47 pm Post subject: Anyone else havin "Not A PA File" issues? |
|
|
I'm running OS 2.10.
Every style I try to load to the PA4 gives the "This Is Not A PA File" message.
I have tried about 25 styles (including those from Create Song Styles and the i30 ones Pete made available) but all return the same error.
I have stored the .set files to the Disk drive and I am trying to load from there, although I seriously doubt that could be the issue. Where the file is loaded from should not make a difference.
I am thinking there is either an issue with my PA4 or the OS.
Any ideas? |

I've been getting that error for years with my own older styles. They load just fine, as I was never able to find anything wrong with them. _________________ Sam

Hey miden
I am happy to try one of your "bad/non-loadable" sets on my PA4X if you need some confirmation....
Just let me know
I know you are having these problems with my i3 SET - this is the only way I can load them:-
Put i-series SET onto USB
In MEDIA mode select Load tab
Select device (USB
Locate the SET and OPEN it
Locate a STYLE bank and OPEN it
Locate a style and LOAD it.
Repeat for each individual STYLE
With PA1/2/3X SETs, I can load entire banks successfully and don't have to drill down to individual styles - with i-series you have to get down to individual styles level.
(not insulting your intelligence here as I am sure you've done this but simply confirming)
Pete
P.S. if you are using a Mac to load up your USB, make sure you get rid of the grossly irritating Mac-generated "info" files (they begin with "._" (dot underscore) and have the same name and extension as the real file) - I have inadvertently tried to load one of these and certainly get that error message. _________________ PA4X-76, Karma, WaveDrum GE, Fantom 8 EX

No Pete, I am loading one at a time. I do know how to load styles one at a time hahaha!
And it's not just the i3 styles either. The others I am trying are supposedly for PA2/3 so there should be no dramas at all.
I actually got a couple of the i3 styles loaded about a week ago, then all of a sudden the loader started spitting this message and I have not been able to load anything since.

Ah!!!
(sorry - I had never intended to seem like I was questioning your knowledge!!!! )
So, if you have a PA2/3 file that's permanent a problem, let me give it a go

Just as an update - I tried loading some PA3 styles I had saved from previous models, and it still spits the same message "Not A PA File" so I think this is a bug in the system now! |

Further update:
as a "just in case" thing, I upgraded to OS 2.2 then re-tried. Same result.
I also tried loading styles from the latest Korg Factory style bonus packs (for example form style pack 30) , same result "Not a PA File" so I think there is something drastically wrong with my PA OS!! |

This is weird , since any Pa resources loading leads to the same message "Not a PA File" , looks very suspicious !
Try to load a style from a Pa4X previously saved setup of yours and if this will lead to the same message then check the following :
- Check and re-format your USB media device via Pa4X.
- Your PC might have been infected by a virus , where all files there have been injected by extra code lines and can't be recognized by Linux
So , re-download Pete's resources or any via another PC and another unused USB thumb drive and retry ! _________________ Music Conductor - Sound Engineer & Developer - Automotive SMPS/RF R&D - Electronics Engineer

Thanks Antony.
I got it working again by deleting out all the style banks and re-loading them via a restore function.
It now loads PA1 thru PA3 styles as well as the i30 ones too
I am now suspecting it was one of the styles from Create Song Styles website that caused the issue. So I 'll be avoiding them from now on haha! |

Nope ... I don't think so , Never load a whole Style Bank of non-verified sources , only standalone Styles in a fresh empty/formatted bank !!! _________________ Music Conductor - Sound Engineer & Developer - Automotive SMPS/RF R&D - Electronics Engineer

Well again, nope . I always ALWAYS only load sty files one at a time! So there must have been something in one of them that caused this.
Prior to loading the sty files from there, it loaded everything normally. After I loaded them I started getting this message.
Cleared the style banks and re-loaded my original stored style banks. Problem disappears. |

Hello miden,
If you manage to find out which style does it i would like to have a copy of it to try to figure out what is wrong with it and wishfully restore it to working condition if you still need it! |

thx, but to be honest I can not recall exactly which one of about 7 I loaded, sorry.
I'm really after some more modern country country/rock-pop styles which is why I tried a few of those. |
