In combi mode, is it possible to have the pads play a channel that is not "active" on the key bed? Or do you have to split and push the pad sound up or down out of the way of the active channel?
Thanks... |

I probably don't understand completely.
Each combi has its own set of 8 pads.
Each pad has access to the 16 midi channels.
If you want to have an 'inactive channel', for the program you would have to select track parameter tab and set that midi channel to off. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

yea, sorry...
I'm pretty certain this is possible, but having problems finding where to make the adjustment...
Basically, have piano on CH 1, and using all keys for it... (no splits)..
Then having a string pad on CH 2 for use with the Pads only..that I have programed and triggering with a Nano Pad... (don't want the piano to trigger with the Ch 2 String chords)..
My older Korg models I could control this right on the "chord trigger" window, but don't see it on the Kronos...
Thanks... |

Just set the pads to channel 2. Or am I missing what you are trying to do? |

Yes, each pad can play a different channel, if you like - so, keybed plus up to 8 simultaneous pad channels. To do so go the PADS page:
EQ/VECTOR CONTROL -- PADS tab.
Top, middle of screen, press ENABLE PAD PLAY so that the light goes off. You can now select the channel for each pad (top of each pad row). Select channels, then turn ENABLE PAD PLAY back on.
Obviously, this is a valuable feature, as you can trigger percussion, samples, loops, and other sounds, while retaining the keybed range for whatever timbre you are playing. Furthermore, you can assign the Foot Switch to trigger a pad, so you can keep your hands on the keys. |
