Hum, in this case, is most likely an issue of the sound system and the keyboard being on different home circuits (it's reasonable to assume a B&O system isn't being used at a gig!). If a simple ground lift on one end (probably the keyboard end) doesn't solve the issue, then a ground isolator box probably will.
I've run unbalanced cables over 20ft with few issues. The trick is to maximize your clean signal strength. Run your volume on the arranger at say 80% or so. Then if you are getting a tiny bit of interference (try to make sure you don't run your signal cables parallel to power cables, or computer cables, etc.) it will be lost as you need very little gain on the amplifier.
On the whole, higher quality 1/4" to RCA will work fine. Cheap cables, whether 1/4' to 1/4" or 1/4" to RCA will be the issue, not the adaptor!
And, in response to the last question, you need either ONE stereo cable (2 separate TS 1/4" male jacks at one end to two either 1/4" TS or RCA males at the other, and you'll need to split the dual cable at the speaker end to go one 1/4" TS or RCA at the end of each of the split to the speakers) or alternatively, and my recommendation a pair of these (depending on length) https://www.guitarcenter.com/Monster-Cable/Studio-Link-500-Interconnect-1-4-RCA.gc#productDetail (these are 4 meter).
Yes, a hair pricy, but you can afford a B&O sound system, you can afford these! Plus, if you need a longer cable to go to the further away speaker, you can order them in different lengths. |

Having sorted the problems (thanks to all who advised me) and now using my B&O speakers without my PaAS, can anyone advise how the speakers can be disabled when I connect my headphones?
I’m Hoping there is a more elegant way of doing this other than switching off or disconnecting the speakers!
Thanks
