|
|
Hi,
I'm trying to use the microSTATION as sound module controlled by an external MIDI sequencer.
being in SEQ mode, I could'n figure out how to change the sound assigned to each channel of the microSTATION using "program change" coming from the DAW.
It looks like the only way to assign a program to each channel is using the buttons of the microSTATION itself.
Could sb. please write the exact steps to follow (inside the menus of the microSTATION) so that the microSTATION accepts "program change" messages coming from my DAW when it plays a song (many tracks with different MIDI channels)? |

Read your manuals, they are there to instruct you!

The Global mode “SEQ Mode” setting
In Sequencer mode, you will normally use the internal
sequencer as the master that controls the internal sound
generator or external MIDI sound modules. However, you
can also use the microSTATION as a multi‐timbral sound
module that can simultaneously play multiple tracks of performance
data from an external MIDI sequencer....
...
You can switch the microSTATION’s setting as appropriate
for these two purposes. This setting is made in >Global/
Media: MIDI > SEQ Mode=SEQ MIDI Out > “Trk.”
Change to “for ExtSeq” is the appropriate setting if you want to use the
microSTATION as a multi‐timbral sound module for your
external sequencer.

The problem to solve was: how to setup the microSTATION when used as a sound module in order to accept incoming MIDI program change messages from the DAW .
The solution I found:
1. SEQ > 000:NEW SONG > EDIT > Tracks > T1 > MIDI Filter > Prog Chg: ON
2. Repeat the steps above for T2, T3, ... T16
3. SEQ > 000:NEW SONG > SONG Command > SAVE Template>To:U00:NEW SON ; OK
4. GLOBAL/MEDIA > MIDI > MIDI Filter > Prog Chg: On
5. GLOBAL/MEDIA > Initial Song > U000:NEW SON
6. GLOBAL/MEDIA > Write Global
When microSTATION turns on, it loads the settings of steps 1 to 5 and accepts incoming program changes from the external sequencer. |
