I have checked in the manual , writing keyboard sets into a style but cannot get past go.
all locks are open
Manual says open write keyboard set to style from control panel
However this part is greyed out.

I cannot seem to work out how to alter it so that I can make my alterations and save it in the style.

I have slow waltz 1 which has keyboard set 1 as upper 1 = whistle
upper 2 real violin dnc upper 3 classic piano
keyboard set 2 ,3 and 4 are as they are.

I have created a set called plase d. amore and saved it in user - piano- 4th item
What I would like to do is change keyboard set 1 to plase .d. amore.
once I can do this I will be able to change any of the others in any style.

It must be straight forward, but not to me. As I said I have read the manual and couldn't fathom it.

done it

went into record and saved the style in a user bank.

then opened it in style mode , made my changes and then saved that style in a user bank.

Wow this hurts my head. when you are young these things seem simple . when you are older they are not .

Glad you found the answer. Yes, the factory styles are locked by default so you can't change them. The lock can be undone in settings, but I like to keep them safe and only change things I have copied to my user banks.

.....also Keith, you can save yourself a lot of time and headaches by using SONGBOOK to do that - then you don't need several copies of the style.

Hi Pete.

I know this will disappoint many BUT I don't no how to use songbook.

I have only had a FEW korg keyboards with this facility and never seemed to get around to using it as I only play about at home.

When I retire(I am 71) I might find time to experiment. ha ha

Hi Keith

Firstly, I completely empathise with you regarding SONGBOOK
I rarely used it on my previous Korg arrangers and mostly used PERFORMANCES and STYLES to create my song set-up requirements.

However, I strongly recommend that you spend some dedicated time learning SONGBOOK as the PA4X is a newly designed OS and is very much focused on the use of SONGBOOK.
Changing styles configurations is not the way to go in most cases. Using SONGBOOK means that you can (for example) use the same style but have different configurations (STS, tempo, volumes, panning etc...etc...) without actually overwriting the style or needing to copy it into a USER location.

We are in a bit of a new Korg-arranger-world with the PA4X and there is a learning curve.

I use SONGBOOK exclusively now for all my song registrations whether style based, MIDI-file based, or MP3-based and also have some entries that are just SOUNDS (no style MIDI or MP3)
Added to this is that you can create set-lists of SONGBOOK entries to suit sets in performing or merely organising the entries in groups (i.e. lists) to suit your needs

I seriously cannot sell this enough - it is excellent especially now we are in Version 2

Korg keyboards are great but frustrating as the menu system does seem very quirky and the manuals well that they are written by a Klingon always comes to mind.

Songbook, there are a few video tutorials on using it, the best being this one.

Pete, I am looking after my daughters dogs next week over at her house while they all go away on holiday so I will take my keyboard etc laptop etc and try to master the songbook.

Keith - Just want to say that you were given really good advice regarding the Songbook. It is able to save - and quickly recall - just about everything you set up for a particular song. Sometimes I save the same song with different setups. Just give it a slightly different name, e.g. MySong2.

You might also consider having a look at the Songbook Editor and it's manual. I don't actually use it much but it provides another way of viewing all the data that is stored with Songbook entries and might you better understand what is going on.

As another "old guy" I can tell you that none of this is that bad once you get into it. If you get hung up there are many capable people on this forum willing to help.
