Okay, I just bought it.
The big pluses for me are that the wave table synth is quite impressive and the GUI is very responsive and beautifully done. To me it seems perfect for a particular type of sound...that grindy, growling, transformer sound...which is something I like. I don't think this is for everyone.
It was obviously intended for live EDM creation, but the drum portion will never be as easy to work with as Patterning 2 or Beatmaker 3. I can see what Korg was going for here. They have a good start, but are still a few updates off from being worth the $20 I put into this.
I love the wave table sounds and parameters but I am still debating whether this was a wasted purchase.
While the new Wave Electribe goes back to it's own roots in it's workflow the improvements on the electriibe platform lye in the GUI, it's new editing parameters, super smooth functionality and the utilities grid.
If you are a fan of Electribe like I was..at one time...then you will find a lot to love about this new app. However for a pro-iPad musician who loves their beatmaker 3 and has made Korg Gadget rock the world, Wave Electribe not having a proper IAA implementation would really make this a waste of money for many. _________________ Korg PX5d

Only played with last night but I dont think I will have any regrets.
it's upped the bar limit to 8 for those that cant live a day without it - looks like a "real" arp installed ...
The usual whinges already - no sample import blah-blah - I have all that covered and actually like it's a closed virtual groovebox.
CC learn - will see how that goes with my ES2 |

Not an EDM artist but keen to learn EDM techniques for my own Electronic music.
Mixed feelings on it so far - wave table end of it seems a tad light; but I suppose it's as much about knowing how to do interesting things with a resource like (and I don't, yet ).
It's sequencing and realtime modulation possibilities do seem interesting, and mostly why I bought it.
Korg - please - a manual for it!! (I for one need one). |
