Posted: Tue Sep 04, 2018 1:31 am Post subject: Pairing factory Preset Drum track Patterns to Drum Kits |
|
|
Kronos has 270 Drum Kits established as Drum Programs
Kronos has 607 Preset Drum Track (DT) Patterns
The factory or Korg assigned a DT Pattern to each Drum program which sounds good.
Unfortunately, when I loaded a 3rd party sample lib, this 'logical 'pairing
got completely scrambled.
When I restore a prior saved back up, this does not restore the pairing or good match of DT pattern to a Drum Program
I have looked at the reference guide, appendices, voice name list. Nothing has jumped out that defines what Korg did originally.
Any suggestions ? Doing it manually, via guess work by names is not effective.
Thanks ! _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

I had this problem about a year ago after purchasing a new library. What I did was went and loaded the factory drum patches into the proper locations so that the combis wouldn't be off. But had to find another location for the new library that I had purchased. You will have to go to factory and load the drum patches into proper location and then reassign the new library to a new location.
Hope this make sense it is alot of trial and error for me also.
Not really sure about the original Kronos drum locations. Does the new Kronos 2 have more drum patterns or was the new library designed for the K2?
When you restore it back you will have to load the drum patches from factory folder and should be all good. _________________ K2 Kronos 88, Mojo 61, Korg CX3, Roland FANTOM 7 |

The simplest way for you would be to use the TidyKronos freeware and open the Factory PCG. One of the columns lists them all as they are originally. You could either restore them manually or loading back the programs you want that were damaged/modified. |

There are utilities out there to run Windows on Macs. VirtualBox is one free example. |

How funny, that product stirred a memory.
" a free and open-source hosted hypervisor for x86 computers currently being developed by Oracle Corporation. Developed initially by Innotek GmbH, it was acquired by Sun Microsystems in 2008 which was in turn acquired by Oracle in 2010."
I worked for Sun for 6 years(way before Oracle)
Anyway, the big struggle is getting the data . I am still digging for the ' matched data ' ( what drum patterns go with each Program]
As it now appears, many of my programs are jacked up on "DT Pattern to Program to Drum Kit "
Dumping in/copying Factory PCG or my KSC/PCG backups to the Programs does nothing to pair up the Korg intended DT pattern.
Kronos Drums are a big deal for me since drum tracks are an integral part of each song I write and record. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

no dice. I tried reloading factory KSC/PCG. It did not update the DT pattern data. And every possible approach
In fact, the problem is not just Drum programs. Its all Programs. Many of my factory programs are jacked up on "DT Pattern to Program to Drum Kit "
I hope the factory multisamples are not screwed up or missing. That would be worse.
As noted above, I am still digging for a chart that shows what DT pattern is used for each Program. Kronos drums are a big deal as I use them for song writing _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

The Kronos 2 doesn't have the same apairing than prévious versions.
So, with some third party sound banks, we have an old apairing. We must modify the Drum Kit number to the right one.
I have wrote a conversion table for that purpose. As soon as possible, I will upload it here. |

I appreciate that, thanks
My K is like the K2, in that I have the identical Progs/Combis. ( installed the "New KRONOS Sound Pack" over 2 yrs ago). The only diff there is the ' order'
of program sounds in some banks is different.
Most of the 3rd Party sample lib authors at the Korg shop accommodate either order in their install steps, AFAIK. But thats another topic.
I would like to get my Programs back to factory state. Not all of them are mixed up on DT pattern. Some of them definitely are from my testing. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Below in red is what I was talking about. Simply run the TidyKronos freeware in some virtual machine compatible with your Mac OS (like VirtualBox) to get all the info you need. From there it is easy to manually correct the modified programs.

This is a good idea. It was worth testing to see if some of my Drum details on certain Programs got crossed up on the K1 order vs the " new " order or the K2
references.
As it turns out, that possibility is not the source of my problem.
Here ar examples of what I 'hear ' as problems with my drum details:
What do you show for Program F080 Jazz/Brush Kit
Go to Drum Track ( Basic/vector tab)
what do you show for:
Drum Track Pattern :
Drum Track Parameters:
Same with A003- German New Age Grand
Go to Drum Track ( Common tab)
what do you show for:
Drum Track Pattern :
Drum Track Parameters: _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Just for more fun- lets take the 1st Program on your report;
Berlin Grand SW2 UC
It says U-AA118 for Drum track
for Drum Track parameter.
What is the name of Drum Program in U - AA118 ? _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

For the Kronos-2 Factory PCG file, program U-AA118 (which of course happens to be a drum) is :
Rock Kit Dry Mic SnOn.
So this is the drum you hear in the I-A000 Berlin Grand SW2 UC program.
And the drum pattern played in I-A000 is INT 112, titled :
Showdown [All]. |

I have the same Rock Kit Dry Mic Sn on U -A015.
So this Program is mapped correctly. Thank you for confirming the drum
