Thanks, I better understand now your way of playing and with this method, I guess you are trying to re-create the previous "performances way of working" that Korg has abandoned.

Unfortunately, the two "ways of working" methods are erroneously considered as competitors again and again. This is probably due to the different methods of Yamaha's Memory Banks (with 8 register buttons) and the songbook, which was forced by Korg.

For Korg-Pa players, this competitive thinking is completely pointless, because with "AutoSelect-Performance" (Autoselect KbdSet) you always had the opportunity to use these two methods in full, in parallel and in combination with each other. Autoselect-Performance / -KbdSet allows - like on the method of the Memory Banks - to use up to 16 single-touch-DirectAccess-buttons to select Performances / KbdSets / Registrations depending on the Pa-model (ie Pa1000 with 9 buttons).

Players that organize their songs according for a specific process or at the call of the audience need pre-programmed settings of a sb-entry for consistently high-quality performance. Thats why the pre-programmed settings of sb-entries are rigid, coupled and fixed assigned. These terms are not considered negative in this context and that good characteristics of songbook are necessary for such applications.

But rigid, coupled and fixed assigned pre-programmed settings of sb-entries can only be used intuitively, flexibly, variably and spontaneously, if these rigid assignments can be prevented and avoided temporarily. With Autoselect-KbdSet (never abandoned) that has been well done for KbdSets and it would be necessary to also realize this for the SETLIST feature of the songbook - easy to realize with LOCK-STYLE-Parameter supplemented by an OS-update.

The use of the Pa keyboards would be much more flexible and variable by this simple extension and thus better suited for those players who do not want to use only fix-preprogrammed settings, but also want to use spontaneous and creative elements, so not always and exclusively performing with a few specified settings of a song.

Setlist would allow you to use all pre-programmed KbdSets with single-touch-DirectAccess buttons to be used for any style and without being tied to that style of the setlist, which is registered in the sb-entry. If required the recent used style always maybe changed via the Style-Panel or Autoselect Style.

So I ask for support for my suggestion of a Lock-Style for Setlist! Thank you.

Fortunately, there are far more than 2 ways of working with the PA series and as the name shows, SongBook collects songs (in any of the forms: STY, MP3, MID). I am also using the KB sets for playing intuitively and changing them without affecting the style or changing the style and keep the same KB set. This is all possible with the PA1000 without using the SongBook.

I'm not against your proposal of a LOCK-STYLE parameter, provided that this does not add confusion to this already very complex instrument.

Your comments are already correct and of course with methodes as described even without a songbook to play intuitively is possible.

However, regardless of the mode one always is limited if the intended change of parameters in a time-critical situation can not be performed with a single-touch DirectAccess-button. In this respect, the predecessor models (Pa3x/800/500) with 16, 2x10 and 2x8 buttons were better suited for convenient DirectAccess than with the 9 buttons of the Pa1000.

The setlist - that can be extended around all existing sb-entries - additionally now could offer the option of using all the advantages of the entries of Songbook, even without coupling the background tracks, by directly accessing the buttons of the KbdSet library for setlist-seletion via a LOCK-STYLE parameter (to be implemented).

This does not add confusion to the instrument, because one need not touch this parameter in case he does not want to play intuitively as could be done without songbook.

You can IGNORE A PARAMETER IF YOU DO NOT NEED IT without confusion - but YOU CAN NOT USE IT IF IT IS MISSING and you would need it!

So it would be a shame not to implement this parameter and thus lose the advanced capabilities that would allow WORKING CREATIVE AND INTUITIVE EVEN WITH THE SONGBOOK.
