I am wondering if it is at all possible to create a separate monitor mix of the sounds coming out of outputs 1/2 and 3/4 and send them to the L/R, or a suggestion to achieve a similar effect.

Ideally I'd like to send my sounds with all FX to the appropriate outputs for the FOH engineer, and simultaneously have them bussed internally to L(mono) or L/R as a monitor mix going to my amplifier/speaker. Is there a way to do this?

As of right now, I am thinking the only way is to use an outboard mixer.

You can try Global mode on “Audio” tab page.
Parameter guide page 761 spells out the details.

It lets you globally send L/R output to either indv 1&2 or to 3&4.
So you will have the same L/R signal going out of L/R outputs, headphines out and whichever of the indv out, 2/3 or 3/4, that you set up.

Other than that, you would have to route FX bus to individual outs, but that only applies to one track or timbre or program.
Of course you have 16 instances of tracks or timbres to route via FX bus and if you are not using deep layers or extensive splits, you could get creative and duplicate each program across the tracks and route one copy to L/R and route the other to an Individual out.

Global mode Audio page setting for audio output is the quick and easy route and does not squeeze polyphony down.
If i recall correctly, it also gives independent volume control to Individual-out via the Master slider while the main volume will control L/R and Indvidual outs.
