I often use multiple timbres in a combi, with some being triggered by the Kronos and others being triggered on my external keyboard (Korg TR). Until now, I haven’t tried separating the functions of the Kronos’ SW1 and SW2 switches from those on the Korg TR. So, is it possible to assign the SW1 or SW2 switch on the external keyboard to particular timbres, and isolate these from the SW1 and SW2 switches on the Kronos?

For example, let’s say I have an organ timbre on the Kronos with distortion coming on when I turn on SW1. On the Korg TR, I am playing a solo synth timbre. I want to be able to use the SW1 switch on the TR to turn on, say, portamento and an effect (echo) on the synth solo, without activating the distortion sound on the Kronos. Similarly I want to be able to turn on SW1 on the Kronos to activate the distortion on the organ without impacting any of the timbres on the TR.

Thanks for your help.

Depending what you want to do, you can use the External 1 tab options in Global mode. Check also the Function Assign tab under Scales/Controllers. If these are not enough in certain situations, you can also use an external MIDI mapper freeware, but of course you will also need a laptop.

Thanks KK, I’ll give those a go. I’m not keen to add further complexity to the rig, so I’ll try and steer clear of having a laptop connected.
