I followed John’s link in the other thread a few weeks ago and installed his new piano sound on my 700.
It works and sound fantastic. _________________ Biggles

I'm very excited to try Reuben John's Yamaha C5 Grand on my PA1000, but when I attempt to extract either the "Yamaha-C5-JNv4.2.SET" or "Yamaha-C5-JNv4.2U2.SET" zip file on my PC (Windows 10), I get the following message:
Are you sure you want to move this system file.
If you move this file, Windows or another program may no longer work correctly.
RAM.KMP
type: KMP File
Size: 20.0 KB
Date modified: 6/5/2007 2:53 PM
choose: yes, skip or cancel
Is this normal to get this message, and what option should I take? Also, is there an advantage to loading into the Korg PA1000's USER 2 vs USER 1 sound bank?
Thanks,

Windows has an unzip operation that should work by double clicking the file. Perhaps you are using a third party unzip program?
The two file options (User 1 or User 2) are just for convenience and contain exactly the same sounds. If you already have some favorite sounds in User 1 then the second download link might suit you better as it will automatically load them to User 2. In either case it is still possible to load the sounds to the locations of your choosing. _________________ Free SoundFonts: https://sites.google.com/site/soundfonts4u/

Reuben John,
Loaded your 16 Piano samples into my PA1000 (sound bank 4, P1-P2) and they sound terrific. Nice collection to cover the wide variety of arranger keyboard playing situations: from arranger kb mode playing or with backing tracks, to playing with live musicians or full keyboard solo piano playing. I could hardly believe my ears to think such an impressive acoustic piano sound is coming out of my mid level model Korg keyboard, from the rich resonant bass, the mid range presence, to the clean clear highs. I esp like the Yamaha Upright sound. John, thanks so much for sharing your quality work with the Korg User Community at large.

John (aka: Reuben)
Very nice demos of your piano sounds and impressive piano/vocal renditions of the Eagle's Wasted Time and Sir Elton's Candle in the Wind. Bravo.
What Pa keyboard model (Pa1000 I assume? ) were you playing live along with MP3 (?) backing tracks to? I love how the Pa1000/700 is so equally at home supporting both arranger mode and performing along with backing tracks too.
Many thanks again for sharing your acoustic piano sounds with us. They remain my favorite 'go to' acoustic piano sounds.

I think this is achievable with a little bit of work.
You can download the PCM layers from here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/10VExZXp_vAHck-3mz9FN6qjZ6s_oB4L6/view?usp=sharing
You will need 232mb free Ram. Once the PCM layers are loaded to your Pa2x you would need to construct the sound parameters (Velocity ranges for each layer, Amp levels and filters etc) and I could help here. (The easiest way is to start with a factory piano, create 6 layers [12 oscillators] and swap Rom sounds for Ram layers).
If this is a little beyond your expertise I suggest you publish the PCM layers download link in the Pa2x forum and ask for some help.
As mentioned once loaded I can give you the appropriate parameters for a good sound. _________________ Free SoundFonts: https://sites.google.com/site/soundfonts4u/

Thanks a lot. It's definitely beyond my skills. Anyway perhaps some other users can give a try. Thanks for sharing the pcm and for your help. |
