Hello,

I use some sequences in live. I prepared my sequence with Cubase and I import from midi file into seq mode.
Depending the bands I need to mute different channel (ig 3 people I need to mute drums and bass and 5 musicians, I need to unmute drums and bass). I mute also the channel I use to play. For example channel 1 and 2 but I need to have the good sound. The problem is because my channels are muted, the program change is not executed and kronos put the default sound. How can I fix it ?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Porgy,

Before you press START, do the tracks in your song all show program INT-A000 (or maybe GM-G001)? Do they change sounds when the song starts?

Maybe you have PROG events recorded in measure 1 of each track? I believe this is common practice for many (non-Kronos) sequencers and MIDI files. As you have found, the track MUTE switch affects all sequenced events on that track - not just notes, but program changes, controllers, pitch bend, etc.

You might be better off returning to location 001:01.000 and manually selecting the required sounds on each track. These form the 'default sounds' you refer to.

HTH!

Hi, Thanks for you response. You're right it seems when I select my sound at 1.1.0, the sound is kept. It wasn't the case if I'm not at 1.1.0. I will continue my test tonight. Thanks for your response. Another question, when I prepare my sequence on cubase, my sequence has specific track order (ie drum on track 10 and channel 10). All track are used (1 to 16). When I export to midi, if I open with garage band, the track are on the same order but when I import on Kronos, track change order.... Strange no ?

Hmm, yes that is strange. I have tried importing MIDI file songs into the Kronos SEQuencer on several occasions, each one has kept its track order intact.
Mostly though, I create my sequenced songs directly on the Kronos.

Sorry I'm afraid I can't help you on that one. Think
