Hello,
I wonder how you can be fooled by a video to suspect conversion software behind renaming a filetyp from STY to MID.

There nothing really is converted, but MIDI properties of the Yamaha style file is used as SMF (Standard MIDI File), to be imported and edited as you exactly can find in Manual (page 296), titled "Importing a Standard MIDI File to a Style".

Yes, but all high end yamaha styles use mega voices, these cant be converted..

Thats why there are 2 types of yamaha styles, the current and the pre mega voice styles, so i guess this will only work for some styles and not all?

Hello,
whether you import an SMF separated by markers (Manual Page 296) or use StyleCreatorBot (302) - the intended result in both cases is to get a style from an SMF.

With StyleCreatorBot the result is unpredictable and may vary depending on the source song, whereas Style Tracks and MIDI Channels are matched and prepared correctly for importing SMF to Style, the resultat mostly is much better (non-matching Tracks/Midi channels are ignored during the import procedure).

If StyleCreatorBot absolutely can not find any matching properties in a SMF, it's not surprising if no style can be generated from it.

As mentioned before, that is no real conversion but rather a copying process of Midi-Data. If the source (SMF) is hailing from Yamaha styles, this midi data will then be transmitted in the same way as in the source, regardless of whether Megavoices were used there or not.

An SMF does not distinguish where the data comes from. If there is a program (MSB, LSB, PgChg) which turns on a Megavoice in a Yamaha keyboard, then the imported SMF maybe has an invalid program change command when played in a Pa-keyboard - so program of GM-bank will be used (nothing else happens).

Next unpleasant properties of Megavoice styles are unusable note events in its sequences - the SMF also accepts these not-events without any problems.

If using SMFs with Midi-data a Pa-Keyboard can't implement satisfactory in its styles - maybe Prg-Changes that do not exist or unnatural note-events, used in source only for sound controls - it is necessary to edit the events of such styles.

Styles made from SMFs optimized for another instrument of course need post-processing of transmitted parameter from special voices. Edit program-changes to Pa-programs and delete useless note-events, if you want use sources with Midi-events that Pa-styles can not play.

PS: It is the same with SMFs adapted specific for a certain arranger-brand - program-changes, controller-values, effect-parameter etc often are to edit, to get an acceptable result.
