If step sequencer page is available for German grand program, then you can use it for german grand.

Step sequencer has to be assigned as an AMS.
And AMS lets you use step sequencer to Modulate a good number of parameters.

It all depends on what you want to use step sequencer for.
If you want to use it to play note melodies like an arppegiator, then you need to use AMS for “Pitch” parameter. Find the German Grand pitch parameter and set the AMS for pitch, to Step sequencer.

Of course you have to also be able to set up step sequencer to run the sequence you need.

I am a bit busy right now but i will get to Kronos in a bit to look at German grand program to see what is going on with options there.

I looked for pitch Parameter in German Grand and could not find it.
There was transpose but no AMS option for transpose.

SGX is rather limited from the synthesizer point of view.
But SGX is intended to simulate real pianos and not synthesizers.

Maybe it is still too early this morning and my brain not warmed up enough to find the Pitch parameter and AMS option for it, if it is there.
But my first thought after reading your post, was that SGX probably doesn’t even have Step sequence option....but it does.

Not seeing much AMS option in SGX. I see AMS options in step sequencer page but not much outside of step sequencer page where step sequence itself can be used as AMS.

Maybe someone else knows where to look or another way to get step sequencer to run note patterns for you if that is what you need.

What do you need step sequencer to do for you?

No, in SGX 2 engine, two parameters only can be driven with Common Step Sequencer : Common Step Sequencer Attack Smoothing and Common Step Sequencer Decay Smoothing.

To create a melody with SGX2, use either Karma or Pattern in SEQ Mode.
