The skill of this guy is amazing... but, the question is : anybody knows if that sound is a preset ?.. a library ?.. I noticed that this guy uses a expression pedal.

His hands on the ribbon control looks to match all of the expression emulated in his playing, but that could be added to unseen pedal work with his feet and maybe even aftertouch.
Also he may be using a custom scale which can be set up in global mode features.
The sound does not sound too odd to be a preset but it could also be a third party sound from Korg shop.
There is a third party sound designer that specializes in these eastern music sounds which are heavily dependent on custom scales and special expression curves put to the right controls...
I think Kefar sounds is the one that specializes in these eastern style sound sets for Kronos.
http://kelfar.net/
Go to their website and listen to the multiple youtube videos of live playing demos as well as info and much more that they offer.
And yes they offer custom scale tunings for varius types of world music.
The eastern style custom scales are easier to play once you have an ear for the music style they are made for. And then the expression is also easier to fit into the scales.
The rest is just skill.
I am not sure if the performance you asked about is a Kelfar sound or not, but i point to Kelfar as the best place to look if you want that kind of music for playing on Kronos.
You will need custom scales set up in global and also the right control setup for the expression to match the music style, and i know Kelfar sounds does all of that. |
