Hiya
I remember a tutorial about using setlist to switch or mute tracks whilst playing along with a single sequence (i.e. the sequence / drum track / karma doesn't stop).
Does anyone remember where it is???
(I've searched Google and the forum for over an hour now and my brain is starting to hurt...)
Cheers! |

Hey up, Peas.
Yes that tutorial rings a bell with me, althoughI can't remember where I saw it. However, after seeing it I thought, "hmm, that works but I prefer my way". Horses for courses, though. Here's what I do:
• In SEQ mode select the Play/REC > Control Surface tab (or in SET LIST mode the Control Surface tab is there in the lower-right corner).
• Then choose one of the MIDI/AUDIO 1-8/9-16 pages.
• There's a checkbox called Link KBD/REC Trk to Control Surface over on the right-hand side.
When you select this, you can switch the track that is sensitive to the keyboard using the eight MIX SELECT buttons on the Kronos' control surface to the left of the screen, above the sliders. (Strictly speaking, any and all tracks on that same MIDI channel will become active.) For example, I might use this feature to switch between two different sounds, say tracks 6 and 8, just before and just after the middle-8 of a song.
Pro's:
• You can just use one SET LIST slot for the entire sequenced song, simplifying your set-list.
• It's not just a per-song setting, it applies to all sequenced songs. Set it once, works for all.
Con's:
• The setting is not memorised internally or saved in the *.PCG or *.SEQ files (at least not on my first-gen Kronos X 61 - ymmv), and is reset when you turn your Kronos off; just remember to switch it on again once you're up and running.
• You can't trigger track-switching by foot-pedal (whereas you can use the foot-pedal to increment SET LIST slots). You have to switch tracks manually by pressing a button, which means one hand is busy while playing - this might not be a problem depending on your song's arrangement. I often use a sustain pedal to hold notes, freeing up a hand for other duties such as this.

Heyup!
I found what I was looking for on other posts on this forum and should have posted the solution a while back- apologies for the delay.
For anyone interested it was as simple as merely copying the song several times into Setlist slots (Add to Setlist) and then changing the track using Edit to the required track for each Setlist slot. As long as the Karma module control is highlighted then the Karma scenes and controls can be adjusted etc. Nothing stops running.
Really simple - to quote the great Homer Simpson: "Every time I learn something new it pushes some old stuff out of my brain..."
This was apparently old stuff...
