See link below. Kronos gets lowest score for blind piano test. Lowest score in both piano sound and quality of keys.

In now way the Casio is better
Also, I dislike the Roland sound.

I think the lowest score is because the guy didn't like the action. Something that many guys say so
That's why the Kronos LS came.

Piano comparisons is like asking 5 different guys what they think of your girl friend or wife.

Hard to accept the d00d , as experienced as he supposed was, didn't figure out he was playing a Kronos 88. Or a Roland RD. Etc etc

Anyway, he's accepting 'factory ' settings.
Velocity curve is a big adjustment. Release value is huge, too.

I know the RD well, Roland is well known for their superb 88 keybeds.

Anyway, these comparisons are strictly entertainment IMO.

Most owners of these keyboards have figured out what their favorite is- these boards have been around.

This is just another classic "Jack-from-Andertons" fun keyboard video (and I seriously enjoy them!!).

Totally totally totally subjective - there is "no better" or "no worse" - it is always the hands and ears of the beholder and depends entirely on the keybed, patch/sample, EQ, sound system, FX, and personal needs etc... etc....

Cheers

And a levels, and order of presentation thing. The preferred piano seemed to be the loudest, and the Kronos piano being played first was almost certainly given the tightest scrutiny.

I agree that the Nord pianos have a "creamyness" but to me it sounds slightly artificial, more like an acoustic piano with a dose of eq and reverb. The Kronos pianos sound closer to the real thing.

I am in need of a VOX organ sound that is very 'Doors'-like. Are there any libraries available for the Kronos that have a variety of VOX Continental sounds? I was not able to find enough in my Kronos. Thanks. Rob

i guess for me the a88 roland key bed is my hammer action choice
and then pair it with
integra7 and radias rack..
lol
and all the other rack stuff!!
try the I7 for the classic sounds!!
I can tweak till it sounds good to me!!
the trick is using an I pad pro to edit on the I7...

yea every one has a fave!!

on the piano
if you have the space and the bucks...
spend the 100k or more for the real deal!!

for me I get by with the lower cost stuff...
under 4 k...

and I can do so much more....

now if korg or roland had an automatic key bed...
where the hammer action could be adjusted with a touch of a button
or swipe on an I pad...
that would be an all in one key bed!!
and would be worth spending 3k to 5k just for the controller!!

too bad roland discontinued the a88!!
I was ready to add 3 more of them as new....
I settled for used...
if they made an a61 with the supernatural I would buy 2 of them today!!

Blind test of..... just one individual, who didn't even play the upper registers at any time.

That is, by far, not representative in the wider scheme.

Going on sound, from what he played, my personal favs in order of best-worst were Nord, Kronos, Montage, Roland, Casio. The Casio was my least fav due to it sounding synthetic, almost compressed. The Roland sounded phase-y to me.

Horses for courses. Smile

I have played Korg's RH3 on a SV1 and Grandstage. Liked it very much.
I understand that the RH3 action can feel different depending on the model, and so I haven't tried it on the Kronos, but I can't imagine it feeling radically different from the SV1 or the Grandstage.

I was looking for the almost perfect piano action, and so I opted for the Kawai MP11SE in the end. However, I also tried the Roland RD2000 and the Piano 4. Didn't have the chance to try out the Montage 8 or the Casio CDP-S100, but I did play the Casio PX-S1000 recently.

Out of all the pianos I've played, the Nord Piano 4 is at the bottom of my list. I just don't like its action, nor do I like Fatar actions in general. The RD-2000 is certainly A LOT better than the Piano 4, and so is the Casio PX-S1000 for that matter.

Also, when playing the Nord, after less than 2 seconds, he's already decided that the piano sound is the best of the lot... Now, that's quick. Pretty sure he would put the MP11SE nowhere near of the top of his list...
It's not a 'clean comparison, either, really. The Piano 4 and RD2000 are stage pianos, the Montage 8 is a synthesizer, the Kronos is a workstation and the Casio is a portable digital piano with built-in speakers (and dirt cheap when compared to the other ones).

Hi,
Just wanted to add to the discussion. I have the RD2000 which I bought initially as it was such a great deal at the time. I really like it myself and use it with Pianoteq and Ravenscroft 275 (mixing external and internal voices is so easy).
It's probably the most critcised keyboard (through online forums) I have ever owned with most anger aimed at the V Piano sounds. That said, as a home only player I'm happy with it.

From general experience I would have thought the Kawai MP11SE is the best digital around, but for me personally it's such an ugly piano it wouldn't get past my front door (at any price).

The most important thing with any digital piano is to have a great sound system to play it on. I use a good quality hi-fi stereo amp with stereo speakers and an active subwoofer. It makes such a difference to the sound.
