I have a combination layered across my Kronos that features an octave of congas. I only want Karma to affect the congas so what's the easiest way to switch it off for the other sounds?

Let's say you have a kit that has congas, like U-BB061 Cuban Perc Kit on channel 9.

Easiest way to do this would be to go to 5-0 KARMA - GE Setup/Key Zones tab. Let's say you want Karma module A to play the congas. Select a GE from the dropdown. You'll prob want to pick by category. If you go to Drum->Percussion category, you can see there are some GEs that are specifically set up to play only congas. Like 1877-1879, which are set up to play specifically with the Cuban Perc Kit, and 1880 which is set up to work with any percussion kit. Pick one of those that is specifically designed to play only congas.

Now on MIDI/IO in the bottom half of the screen, set the output channel to 9 for Module A. Uncheck Timbre Thru if it is checked.

Turn on Karma and latch. Now when you start playing, Karma Module A should be playing the congas by itself. If you want to make adjustments to the conga pattern, remember to select module A (rather than master) when you go to RT Knobs/Karma.

By the way, if Karma is the only thing that's going to be playing the congas you don't really need to have them mapped onto the keys for it to work. You can re-use that range to add another sound, or give yourself another octave of a sound you already have in use.
