My board has been updated to 3.0.1 and I have my Songbook/set lists and many KB sets stored as ‘Direct’ on a USB.

Can someone tell me please, if I use my V3 USB on a friends Pa4x which is still on V2 will it work??
Thanks Bob

Yes they might work BUT if any of the referenced styles etc have been moved/changed/deleted on your friend's V2 then it will not work properly.

Remember SONGBOOK purely points to the resources - it doesn't actually contain any styles/sounds etc so when you create a SONGBOOK entry e.g. for style "Cool Pop" all will work fine UNLESS "Cool Pop" has been changed/moved/removed

Your friend's PA4X will need to have all the styles/sounds etc that are used in SONGBOOK in exactly the same BANKS and slots as on your PA4x V3

Hope this helps

Following on from this, my friend wants to update his V2 keyboard to V3 AND
Importantly, load it so it exactly mirrors mine (same Songbook, kB sets, etc etc).

Bearing in mind that most of my Songbook and lots of kB sets are on ‘direct’ usb, what is the easiest way to do this?

I’m thinking whether or not a ‘save all’ (with factory unprotect off) on mine and uploaded on his will cover everything?? I can obviously give him a copy of my usb...

But how best (simplest) way to upgrade his to v3? (Or will the Save all upload contain V3?)
Thanks
Bob

Do the Save-All (with factory unprotected if you had changed factory data) on your PA4X - give him a copy
Also make a copy of your DIRECT set for him - so he'll have two "SETs"

Update his PA4X to V3 etc... and remember to perform the "factory restore" (part of the update procedure).

Unprotect his factory
Load your saved (Save-All) SET into his PA4X
Then get him to use the copy of your DIRECT SET as his DIRECT set.

All should look pretty good!!!!

Let us know if you need any more help

Since we are talking about going from v2 to 3, I have just about gotten squared away after my USB flash drive failure, and am trying to get up the nerve to rock the boat again.

I am using a direct KB set as my only set. If I save all and reload, will I be okay. I have most of my media in HD now, but want to protect my SB at all costs.

Additionally

Your friend should for their 4X should:-

1 create a Full Backup

2 create a Save All

Do notes these are two separate function.

Store them on the USB drive and also on a PC / MAC.

I created Backup Folders for each of the above so they are in an obvious location.

As has been stated do have him follow the instructions that he will find in the contents of the expanded Zip file
