1: Can I remove or suppress the vocal track on an MP3
2: It would be a great help if when saving a song to a set list it could retain
the higher or lower key transpose.
Any thoughts folks! _________________ Pro Singer/Musician for over 30 Years |

Yes, you can. However, the degree of effectiveness varies according to the recording. Some sound better than others, but that's the way it is on any device that has that feature. _________________ DonM |

I'm not in front of the keyboard right now and I only tested the karaoke function and don't regularly use it.
I think that the Songbook doesn't remember transpose, but I could be mistaken. I may have mine set to NOT remember transpose, which is probably default setting.
I'm sure someone else will know the answer for certain.
If not I'll check it out for you when I get time.
Sorry I can't be of more help. _________________ DonM |

Press and hold the Shift button, then press the Assignable Button that you want to use to remove/lower the main vocals then from the menu that has popped ip select Remove Vocals.
Press the button to remove or lower the vocals, as said the degree to which it works depends upon original recording. So at worst you sing as a duet. _________________ Biggles

Hi,
the best results in "voice removing" will be achieved, when the file is in stereo and the vocals are centered.
With mono-files it can`t work ( then almost everything will be removed ) _________________ Greetings from East-Frisia, Germany

For your information, the voice suppressor works by suppressing frequencies used by the voice that are at the same level and in phase on both stereo channels.
This is based on the assumption that the voice is in the middle of the stereo space.
As a result, among other side effects:- uncentered voices are not deleted
- the part of the voice that passes through the reverb is not deleted
- some instruments in the centre also have some of their frequencies removed. In short, it is very approximate. |

An alternative might be to use karaoke sites like Karaokeversion which have no vocal to start with, and are often pretty close to the original.
They also have many songs in multitrack versions, allowing you to mute out whatever keyboard parts and solos you want to play yourself, remix or restructure the song, and my personal favorite feature - allowing you to pitch transpose only the pitched tracks and leave the drums and percussion alone, which radically improves the overall sound of the track. It’s quite amazing how natural a transposed track can sound, even with transposition values large enough to ruin a track that had the drums transposed as well...
The truth is, software for removing vocals from complete tracks rarely gives results that don’t disappoint. Karaoke tracks offer a far better solution at very affordable prices per track. |
