Does the Korg pa4x have upper chord detection while playing manual bass? When I play manual bass the backing track stops or I don't hear the manual bass.

You can do it like this:-

Choose UPPER chord detection
Select a bass sound for LOWER
Mute the style's bass
You may need to adjust the LOWER's octave setting.

Works fine
