|
|
Hello,
I've recommissioned my X5d after a long period of disuse. Everything worked fine but after a week, I've discovered that the modwheel isn't doing anything.
It's perfectly smooth with no grittiness or sticking but it just has no effect now. The ptich bend wheel is working perfectly.
My plan is to open up the keyboad and clean around the wheel's potentiometer using a compressd air duster can.
Is this the right thing to do? I've been warned to not use a spray
contact cleaner or anything of the kind.
Thanks. |

It seems strange to reply to my own post but this fix may help others.
I took the base plate off my X5D this afternoon and gave the whole machine a good clean.
The key bed could be moved outwards about half an inch so I could
also clean the keys' roots.
As for the modwheel, it looked perfectly clean and there was nothing to
see on the potentiometer. However, a few blasts with the duster aerosol
did the trick. On test, the wheel worked perfectly and after assembly, a final
test showed it is fixed. Progess! |
