I intend to power from supplemental Li-Ion battery but voltage is not exactly 12V. I don't want the weight of a lead acid battery.

There are reports that the MR1000 will operate down to 6V, and that the internal batteries are arranged in two banks of 4 i.e. 2 x 6V. See:

http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=119552

However, it could be that the internal batteries are actually used to produce an internal +6V, 0V and -6V supply. Without seeing a schematic (purchasable from Guitar Parts) it's not possible to be certain of this.

One way to check the acceptable supply range would be to connect an external variable PSU set to 12V and then decrease the supply voltage until the MR1000 starts to show signs of malfunction. Testing will take time to cover the various operating modes, and all would be done at your own risk, since Korg specifically state only using the supplied AC to 12V DC PSU.

A supply range of 12V +/-10% (10.8 to 13.2V) should be fine, in most cases, though if used to charge the internal batteries, the actual voltage could impact the effectiveness of the charging mechanism.

I was able to communicate with an MR1000 tweaker who said that 9.6V is fine, (less may work too). I then made an adapter cable for my Li ION ext computer battery which outputs 9.6 to 11.2 V. It works great and for a long time. Being battery, it should also reduce the noise floor, but I have not tested that.
