I'm thinking of installing an SSD instead of an HD drive. Anyone have any experience on this? Would disk work be faster then? How's the start time? Is it shorter?
Thanks for the tips. _________________ Polysix, Poly 800, DW6000, DW8000, DS8, M1, PA1X Pro, PA2X Pro, Kronos X 61, PA3X Pro, PA3X LE, PA700, PA4X 76, PA1000, Kronos SE and now Nautilus 73 and Casio PXS3000, Cubase 12, NI Ultimate 12, Komplete Kontrol S49,ReFX 3.0,Roland FR1X. |

I doubt you'll notice much difference except if you are doing a lot of gigging (i.e. physically moving the keyboard around a lot) - SSD should stand up to a bit more bouncing around - I don't think startup time will improve much.

Karmathanever thanks for the reply. I thought about the startup time when suddenly, in the middle of the PA4X performance, it turned off. It is not pleasant to wait for the power on again. How about an SSD? But do I have to buy something (such as an adapter cable or something like that)? _________________ Polysix, Poly 800, DW6000, DW8000, DS8, M1, PA1X Pro, PA2X Pro, Kronos X 61, PA3X Pro, PA3X LE, PA700, PA4X 76, PA1000, Kronos SE and now Nautilus 73 and Casio PXS3000, Cubase 12, NI Ultimate 12, Komplete Kontrol S49,ReFX 3.0,Roland FR1X. |

for me both my pa4x and pa1000 have just
SD cards , like karmathanever said,,, no moving parts ... just use a sd card in the keyboard , small and lighter and just a big and do not cost much and you just slide it in ,, no nuts and bolts ..
and this has nothing to do with boot up ..
for my pa4x and pa1000 ..
the pa1000 is faster then the pa4x .. once or twice , i had to reboot up and I could or tell a joke and then the pa1000 was up and running .. the pa4 , I would talk for weeks ,,
if for some reason the sd card did not works .... i have a usb memory stick and it is twins of the SD cards ,so as long as the keyboard is up and running Iam good... |

If you own a PA4X-61, you will need the HDD installation kit.
With the PA4X-76 you should be able to swap them over.
Cheers

Some useful information for all
- Media storage devices as HD/SSD/mSD do not participate at OS booting.
- Media devices in Pa4X do not contain at all system files , actually OS never use them !
- The called streaming from "disk" mode do not actually use any disk , it uses instead virtual disk from mobo flash memory !
- Booting time is proportional to loaded resources size ... Pa4X/1000 are sharing the same motherboard & CPU(ARM) , nothing is faster.
- do not waste your money for storage only purposes , a cheap mSD is already enough for Pa4X life time (the slowest option).
- mSD/HD/SSD all use the same communication protocol : old USB (Sata port do not exist yet in PaSeries).
- My Sundisk extreme USB drive 3 of 64Gb is already 1,5 times faster than a very fast SSD I have installed in my Pa4X ... _________________ Music Conductor - Sound Engineer & Developer - Automotive SMPS/RF R&D - Electronics Engineer
