Hi Guys

I have just bought a second hand M3 as I can't afford a Kronos. I have upgraded from a Triton Classic. I was happy with my TC but the ZIP disks I kept my song data on have started to corrupt and the connectivity was only by SCSI or floppy. I have lost a lot of song data which is frustrating. The M3 seems like a Triton on steroids if I am honest but I love the connectivity.

What benefits have any of you found with an M3 and..

Can it be upgraded e.g. memory (what type?) and are there any EXB boards for it?

Cheers
Spud Smile

As far as EXB upgrades go, there is the Radias board, which is absolutely fantastic and, in my opinion, a must-have. There is also a firewire EXB. And the stock memory can be upgraded with the EXB-M256, which may be necessary if you're going to do any kind of sampling and/or have any or all of the EXPCM sample libraries loaded. I don't know what the availability of these EXB boards are now...

I think one benefit is that you can load your Triton samples (not the programs, but only the samples) into your M3. The sample format is the same throughout Korg's keyboards. Likewise, I believe you can also load M50 programs/combis, and you can definitely load samples people made for the Kronos. You'll have to make your own programs for all of those samples from the Triton or Kronos, because the PCGs with prog/combi data won't work. For the most part, you can match the program settings you see on the Triton onto the M3, as the program architecture is pretty much the same.

Thank you so much 'HardSync, that is a massive help! Smile Nothing like hearing from those folk who have the experience with this 'Board'

I will now go on the hunt for the extra add on's, I'm sure I'll get one or two of them Smile

Thank you again and very much appreciated Cool

also see for upgradeshttp://i.korg.com/SupportPage.aspx?productid=280

and https://ksounds.com/korg-m3-format-sound-libraries/

and check the system on boot up for what software version you are using.

I updated mine with internal new flash card with expanded and all 4 exb right inside so I do not have to use the external flash drive!!

cool upgrade for sure!!
