Hello I'm pretty amateur as far as the synths/microkorgs go but my problem seems bizarre to me. For some of the presets I've tried, NOT all of them, the keys sound are inconsistent with continued use. Often the key will sound normally and then in seemingly random intervals the sound will disappear or it'll generate an odd more bass like sound. The consistency seems too random for it to be part of an effect but what do I know. I run the korg's output directly through my bass amp if that's significant. Otherwise any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Listen to it using headphones or a more general amp than a bass amp. It is a synth, so it also triggers frequencies which most likely would not really replciated very well by the bass amp.

Further, inconsistencies may occur. E.g. a slow LFO which is not resynced by a keypresses but simply continues may cause such an effect. Same for the oscillator 2. But in general the sound structure should be the same /similar. It should not be that you suddenly get something completely different.

Can you indicate which preset seems to suffer from it? Then we can try it out as well and get back to you whether it is "normal" or not.

Ciao

Its A23 under techno/house that I was specifically having trouble with. Most others seem to work fine. I'll try with headphones, the bass amp has never been an issue for keyboards but thats a good suggestion.

Hi,

I auditioned this A23 patch on my mkXL. It is probably not exactly as on the original mK, but indeed it suffers also from different sounds per keypress here at my side as well.
I looked into the patch and the root cause is LFO2, which is configured in sample and hold mode. Meaning every key press, the LFO will output another random value. A virtual patch is set up to let the LFO control the cut-off of the filters. Hence per key press, the sound starts with other filter settings.

So, your board is ok Smile

If you want to get rid of it, either use another waveform for the LFO, or find the virtual patch which uses the LFO as source and set the intensity to 0.

Have fun!
