recording/playback in AbletonLive10Lite of midi to microKorg results in the note i wanted to play/hear plus another note whose pitch is set by the velocity data. Sorry if i'm having difficulty explaining it.
here's a video of it...

EDIT: turning off "sync" for the midi output fixes it, but i would prefer to keep it on for delay's etc to sync.

the problem only occurs when ableton is in play/rec mode, otherwise the synth behaves as expected.
This also occurs if i manually write notes using the mouse (no keyboard input).
removing the midi OUT from the microKorg makes no difference.
I also just bought a nektar impact lx25+, using this as midi input has made no difference to the problem either.

Hopefully this is something simple but i've exhausted every google search i can think of and i'm no closer to working it out.

Perhaps it's time for a new synth (but i like this one)

Hi,

Very strange. Does it show this behaviour with one particular patch, or also with others?
What do you mean with turning of sync for the midi output? Do you refer to the MIDI clock setting (external/internal/auto)?
What is the wiring scheme for your MIDI cables?
What happens if you use 'local off' on the mK when doing the record step?

'Removing the MIDI out makes no difference' and 'pitch set by velocity data'. That makes me think that the MIDI out from your pc to MIDI in of the mK connection is not working fine. Swap cables, try other midi interfaces I would say.

Good luck

thanks OpAmp for the reply, i'm not having much luck with this.

it doesn't matter which patch i use.
i have 2 different USB midi adapters and both exhibit the same behavior.

in ableton midi settings, for USB midi interface, options Track, Sync, Remote.
When i have track & remote on, everything is fine.
if i enable "sync" then i get the problem (when playing/recording).

the microkorg local is off, i intend on controlling it externally.

it could very well be the midi interface, they are just cheap ebay ones.
but i can't think why having Sync enabled triggers additional note data on the korg.

If none of this is ringing any bells for a particular setting i have overlooked then perhaps i should stick with software synths.
I'm also not sure if running the Lite version of Ableton10 is adding this problem in to make me buy the full version.
it came with my launchpad controller.

Hmm,

I'm not an expert on Ableton as I don't have it.

Here is what I would use:

On the microKorg: local off, midi clock external - this makes that keypresses will only be forwarded, but not sound if no MIDI cables are connected. The sound engine of the board will sync to the clock of Ableton
In Ableton - MIDI in: track on - Ableton will pick up the notes from the board.
In Ableton - MIDI out: track on, sync on - I assume Ableton will bounce the notes so that they sound, but will also send the clock.

I would also try another application to rule out your interfaces or Ableton.

Have fun
