Hi guys,
I need some help. Im not a keyboard player (i am an audio technician) and i have the following question.
I work in a show that the keyboard player needs to trigger a Qlab playback system while hes playing the kronos. Nowadays he is triggering qlab using the space bar of the computers keyboard. As i need now a redundant system for the playback system (he was using only one computer, and now we will use two) i need to configure a key, or a knob or a slider as midi trigger, to fire 2 computers at the same time. Ive already projected everything and have everything i need for that. The only thing i need is to configure for example the last key of the keyboard as a midi note (or any kind of midi message, and the rest of the keyboard working with normal sounds.
Am i clear?
I hope so, and sorry if my question is so stupid

Thanks a lot
Gabriel

The Kronos Control Surface can be used to control external equipment over MIDI. The configuration can be set up in the Global MIDI, External1 tab, and saved as a specific setup (there are 128 slots for different setups). So e.g. button 1 in the second row of switches can be assigned to send a CC# message. The value sent with the selected CC# is 127 for switch "on", and 0 for switch "off". External mode is separate from Programs, Combis, and Set Lists i.e. it still works, whichever Program or Combi the player is using.

If the Kronos settings are set to Memorise (again in Global) then the Kronos will boot up with this external setting already loaded.

All the player then needs to do is press the EXT button (in the button column headed Control Assign), to enable the control surface in External mode, and press the previously assigned button.

.

Hi Gabriel,

I know nothing about the system you mention but I'm sure that in its MIDI config section you can find the answer. If as a trigger source your system accepts, for example, a given user-defined MIDI note number or any other type of MIDI message, simply program the Kronos to send what's needed to trigger it.

And if ever the Kronos can't (because your system needs something more special like a SYSEX message), simply use the MIDI-OX freeware as a "translator" in between. I often use the mapping part of MIDI-OX for particular applications. For example, you can tell it that every time the highest note is pressed (as you mention), it will instead be a particular custom SYSEX message, or a MIDI CC event, a MIDI program change, etc.

Hi, i did what you told me first and im almost there. The only thing i need now is : the same button sending the same midi message all the time and not different messages (such as 0 and 127). Is it possible?
