|
|
Hi:
I have Pa4X. Although I have tried with many quality cables, there is noise at the line output. The keyboard generates -50 to 60 dB noise.
It is very annoying when recording.
What is the solution to this?
Thank you. |

Remember that balanced cables are only effective if the device you are recording to is designed to accepts balanced cables. Otherwise stick to short quality cables use an EM protected power board (or try a different wall outlet) and move away from sources of EM radiation like flurorecsent lights. _________________ Free SoundFonts: https://sites.google.com/site/soundfonts4u/

Thanks for your answer, but I already use balanced cable. My sound card is Studio 1810c and this is my cable.

Has anyone asked whether the noise is a buzz, a hum, or white or pink noise?
All have different sources and different cures.
First thing I’d do is record from the headphone outputs (turned down a bit to not overload the input) and see if the noise is better or worse from there. That will rule out the main out amp section.
I’d also make sure I was only recording ROM sounds and styles, and I’d make sure I had the MAXX stuff turned off. That should rule out noisy samples and distortion from Maxx.
I’d see how much noise is present with the cables in but the arranger turned off (and power cable removed). That should rule out a ground loop and op amp noise. And then unplug the cables and test them unplugged.
And, if possible, if I knew anyone else locally with a PA4X, I’d see if I could have them bring theirs in for a few minutes and see if the noise is in their unit as well.
That’s just the basics, of course, but it ought to rule out some of the easiest stuff to check... |

Don't be so sure that Pa4X produces this noise/hum !
In the mentioned state that you have this noise floor , don't vary anything of your gear volumes state and environment devices
like lighting or anything else and just power off your Pa4X (without removing power cable ).
If you can still hear this , then its not your Pa4X ! _________________ Music Conductor - Sound Engineer & Developer - Automotive SMPS/RF R&D - Electronics Engineer

The shape of the noise is like an electric buzz. Headphone output is normal and 0 noise. No noise when keyboard is off. Pressing the Open button initiates noise on the Start screen. |

I’d suggest a power line isolator or a UPS on the arranger’s power cord. But first make sure you are plugging into the same power outlet as the rest of the audio stuff. Don’t use a different outlet.
Also try turning off everything in the room (lights, a/c, fans, other gear etc.) except the bare minimum to run the arranger and the audio.
Try as a last resort using a ground lift adapter to remove the ground from the arranger. Not recommended usually, but it might work in a pinch. If you have one, try a power tester to make sure all outlets in the room are grounded correctly. |
