Goa?

Post by bpoodoo »

Goa?

What does Goa mean? I see it used lots in the naming of stuff on the Triton Extreme and in a few places on the Kronos.

e.g.
Goa Abduction
Funky Goa
She's a GOA!
Goa Lover
Goa Message
Goa Drums
Goa Trance

Or is this one of those 'don't ask don't tell' kind of things?

Goa is an area in India that became associated with beach raves and a particular style of trance music. The name is now tagged onto sounds that are associated with that "Goa Trance" sound.

Stuff I'm using: Umm right now, well there's a Volca Drum, a Micro Freak, an ADX-1, a Pulse, a Blofeld, a UNO Drum, KeyStep/Beatstep Pro/Keystep Pro (one of each), a Circuit, a LiveTrak L-12 and this nonsense: The Brief-case as it was about a bit over a year ago (the the complete ridiculous GAS monster collection here)and here

Ah OK yes Goa, India was the top google search. I thought India was too conservative to host rave parties. But, get enough out-of-towners, $$$, etc., I can see it. It was either that or Gun Owners of America.

Hehehe I can imagine the patches constructed by gun enthusiasts. There would be some explosive sounds for sure! They'd work well for percussion though. Ricochets would be a nice one to attempt, coupled with a canyon reverb.

Back in the 90's the sunrise beach parties in Goa were the bees knees.
I still love Goa music to this day.
I listen to it to fall asleep, if you can believe.
My housemates think I'm crazy
