|
|
Hello- I recently purchased a Kronos 2- have the Korg EXP-2 pedal plugged into the pedal slot- using it as a volume pedal- already made the adjustment in the global settings for the pedal to be assigned to CC#7- volume- NOT master volume - I am specifically wanting to use this for combi mode, however, in program mode the pedal is acting as a master volume control?? I am hoping this makes sense to whoever might read this. So the question is 1. Why? 2. Does anyone know if there is a workaround for this? I do not need the EXP-2 to control the master volume for the whole keyboard so to speak, just certain sounds in combi mode, which it already does just fine. Thanks, Matt _________________ tks, Matt |

The global setting should be CC#11 expression for volume. |

As JFree said, use CC#11 and, in the Combi, MIDI Filter3 page, unselect which timbres you don't want to respond to expression (Enable Foot Pedal).

Thank you both. So the issue is not in combi mode, it's in prog mode where I dont want to volume pedal to work- why in prog mode is the pedal working still? _________________ tks, Matt |

It always functions as a volume pedal in prog mode by default. I'm not sure why that's an issue unless you've got some sort of spring loaded pedal that auto zeros itself? I'm not in front of the board, but I imagine there's a way to disable that function if you really wanted to. |

A trawl through the Kronos Parameter Guide indicates that, in Program mode, Expression (CC#11) and Volume (CC#7) MIDI data are basically "hardwired" under the hood to control volume. Furthermore, for HD-1, AL-1, STR-1, and MS-20EX Programs, "If both CC#7 and CC#11 are used simultaneously, the one with the lower value determines the maximum volume, and the one with the higher value scales down from that maximum."

A control pedal can do much more than vary volume or expression. A much more versatile setting for it is MIDI # 04, then use this CC to do totally different things in any program/combi, including volume. |

Thanks for the insight KK, how would I set the CC to #4 in a program or combi? _________________ tks, Matt |

Hi there, simply assign it as an AMS source to almost anything you want. For example, to use it for volume control in a combi, place an insert effect (IFX) like the Stereo Limiter on the sound you want to vary the volume. Then simply assign MIDI CC # 04 as the source and set the gain adjust to what you need. Hope this helps. |

Thanks, but would this solve the issue of the pedal still functioning in Program mode? It works just fine in Combi mode using CC#7. tks matt _________________ tks, Matt |

Yep, since it would not be assigned to MIDI volume on all progs/combis anymore. |
